6 libraries for students were set up last year from low income groups

HYDERABAD: K Raheja Corp’s Mindspace, Hyderabad’s premier IT Park, launched Teaching Tree (its CSR initiative in the space of education) in 2016 at which they encouraged their employees to come forward to donate already read Books.

At this time, little did they expect such stupendous support. Donate Books- spread over two weeks last year saw a collection of over 6000 books and tons of stationery. This community-engagement initiative by Teaching Tree accentuated libraries in six low-income schools adopted by Raheja Mindspace as part of its CSR initiative.

Backed on the success of last year’s drive, and given the needs of the students from economically poor background, identified with NGO – Teach for India, K Raheja Corp’s Mindspace sets out once again to collect books, with the hope that this time, the numbers will be greater and the young minds that they can touch will be larger.

Launching on June 14th, timed perfectly to schools re-opening, the book donation drive will see employees of K Raheja Corp as well as those working at Mindspace to come forward and donate already read books. They can also donate blank books, empty note books and square line books. To ensure ease for people with the intent, but no time to step out and buy books, Raheja Mindspace has roped in Crossword Bookstore which will set up multiple stalls inside of Mindspace to ensure ease of purchase.

Adding to the excitement this year and ensuring the children enjoy this donation drive, they will be brought into the Raheja Mindspace campus to interact with the people working there and also for a book reading session, where these young minds will hear some exciting stories and share some of their own creative stories. The aim of this exercise is to help open their minds and expose them to a world beyond their own.

Shrawan Kumar Gone, Director Operations, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, K Raheja Corp said, “Books are very integral to a child’s education, and we were overwhelmed and encouraged by the generosity of our clients and employees last year. The Raheja Mindspace campus came out in full strength, which fortified our endeavour to move forward and continue to strive to undertake more such initiatives.. After the success of last year, we are bringing our Book Donation drive back this year, and look forward to make it bigger and empower more young minds with books.”

While the children are enjoying their summer vacations, some of them were reached out to, and they echoed, “We are very excited for the book collection drive this year at Raheja Mindspace. Last year was a lot of fun as we interacted and we got some of our best story books from the drive. We are proud to have libraries in our schools now and we would like to add to our collection and also exchange books with our friends from other schools.”

Teach For India

Teach For India is a non-profit organization that believes in an excellent education for all children & is striving to end the problem of educational inequity in our country. We are driving this movement through our Fellowship program which places outstanding working professionals and college graduates as Fellows – teachers who work full-time for two years in low-income & under-resourced schools.

Teaching Tree

With the belief that education is the most powerful weapon that can change the world, and committed to the cause, K Raheja Corp, India’s leading real estate developer launched its CSR initiative, christened Teaching Tree. As the name suggests, the initiative aims at providing quality education to children belonging to very low-income groups. The initiative reaches out to children studying in private schools, and whose parents are committed to ensuring a good future for their children.

K Raheja Corp has selected a trained and credible partner to make this mission a success, and has joined hands with Teach for India, an educational NGO that has made a noteworthy contribution to the field of education in the country.

K Raheja Corp, along with Teach for India will empower the teachers of these public schools through better training and exposure to technology.

These teachers will then have an improved impact on the children. K Raheja Corp leads this initiative through its IT business park Mindspace, which houses some of the largest corporate MNC’s and galvanises their non-monetary support for the cause through initiatives like book collection drives, old computer collection drives, art melas where the kids can display their works of art at Mindspace, employees pledging their time to teach these children in their schools and so on.

Financial assistance has already positively influenced the lives of over thousands of students since 2015, and K Raheja Corp remains committed to growing these numbers through Teaching Tree. Through the association, Teaching Tree will further build on the noble work undertaken by Teach for India in the domain of education.
