19th India CSR Leadership Summit 2026

ANGUL: The Angul unit of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) has been conferred with two Greentech Awards in the category of ‘Training Excellence’ and ‘Best HR Leader’ by Greentech Foundation. DK Saraogi, Executive Director (I/c) & Location Head of JSPL Angul and CD Mathew, Associate Vice-President (HR) received these Awards during the ‘4th Annual Greentech HR & Corporate Governance Conference’ held at Banagalore on 27 June 2014.

Jindal Steel & Power Angul and HRThe Greentech HR Award in the category of ‘Training Excellence’ was presented to JSPL for its systematic training programme, enhancing employee skill and overall productivity. The ‘Best HR Leader’ award was presented to Mr. CD Mathew for his contribution in the field of HR and innovative HR practices introduced by him to improve employee wellbeing.

Receiving the Award, DK Saraogi said, “JSPL’s outstanding HR practices led by the top leaders in the industry has helped the Company to create a brilliant talent pool, which are all set to achieve many feats in future”.

“These Awards are an outcome of the teamwork and total dedication of the Human Resources team at JSPL,”said Mr. CD Mathew while thanking the jury and organizers. Dr. Saroj Mahapatra, Vice-President & Head of HR congratulated the team for this recognition.

At Angul, JSPL is building a 6 MTPA Steel Plant. In addition to introducing state of the art technologies for the mega steel project, the steel maker has also introduced excellent human resource management practices that work as continuous support and growth system for the employees.

Recently, the Company had won NHRD Award for ‘Best Practices in Employee Engagement & Retention’. The Company had also bagged Greentech HR Platinum Award and The India Human Capital Award in 2013 and 2012, respectively.

Jindal Steel and Power Limited: Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) is a US$ 3.6 billion business conglomerate, and one of India’s fastest and largest growing integrated steel manufacturers, significantly present in Steel, Mining, Power Generation and Infrastructure segments, catering to a large part of India’s domestic energy and infrastructure requirement. Part of the over US$ 18 billion diversified O. P. Jindal Group, JSPL’s business operations spans across Asia, Africa and Australia. The company has committed investments exceeding US$ 30 billion in the future and has several business initiatives running simultaneously across continents.

Led by Naveen Jindal, the youngest son of the legendary  O.P. Jindal, the company produces economical and efficient steel and power through backward and forward integration. From the widest flat products to a whole range of long products, JSPL today has a product portfolio that caters to markets across the steel value chain. The company produces the world’s longest (121-metre) rails and it is the first in the country to manufacture large-size parallel flange beams. The company also has the distinction of producing high strength angle irons for transmission towers and high strength earthquake-resistant construction TMT rebars. The company has recently launched a new retail brand, Jindal Panther TM in India, and the first product to be launched under the brand is Jindal Panther TM TMT Rebars.

JSPL operates the largest coal-based sponge iron plant in the world and has an installed capacity of 3 MTPA (million tonnes per annum) of steel at Raigarh in Chhattisgarh. Also, it has set up a 0.6 MTPA wire rod mill and a 1.0 MTPA capacity bar mill at Patratu, Jharkhand, a medium and light structural mill at Raigarh, Chhattisgarh and a 1.5 MTPA steel melting shop and a plate mill to produce up to 5.00-metre-wide plates at Angul, Odisha. The organization is wedded to ideals like innovation and technological leadership and is backed by a highly driven and dedicated workforce of 15,000 people. At JSPL, business initiative and community efforts move ahead in perfect harmony. JSPL’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy aims at bringing about a radical transformation in the quality of people’s lives in and around the operation areas of the company through positive intervention in social upliftment and revenue generation programs.

The company drives multiple community initiatives focusing on education, agriculture, water resource management, infrastructure development, on-farm and off-farm livelihood enhancement, health and family welfare, and women empowerment.
