ANGUL (Odisha): Angul District Collector of Angul, Siba Prasad Mishra launched “Aahar”, the supplementary nutrition programme for the students of Jindal Vidyapitha, the rehabilitation school of Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL) at Mahitala village here in the state of Odisha.
The initiative fully supported by JSPL will cater to all 329 students from class-I to class-IX reading in the school. The food will constitute of two buns, two bananas and one egg having calorie benefit of 480 to 530 for class-I to class-V and 650 to 710 for class-VI to class-VIII.
The Collector accompanied by the Sub-Collector Sudarshan Parida also gave away the two-year scholarship to four students of the periphery school of JSPL scoring 80% of marks and above at Rs 1000 per month. School uniforms and school bags along with study materials were also provided to the students of ‘Arambh’ a pre-school meant for the children of the workers engaged in the industry.
Expressing happiness over the launching of ‘Aahar’ and ‘Utkarsh’ the collector said that industrialization doesn’t always have negative impact in public life. Rather it helps in shaping dreams of the people. He also thanked JSPL for the timely help it has provided to the district administration in fighting the Dengue menace that has created panic in the district.
Terming the resettlement and rehabilitation (R&R) colony as an extended family of JSPL, Executive Director of JSPL, Rajesh Jha said “There are four schools in the JSPL premises which are open for all students. And the day is not far when students from this school will run the plant”.
