Naveen Jindal leads sacred procession as Prime Servitor; thousands of devotees participate in traditional celebrations
ANGUL (India CSR): The Jindal family offered prayers and participated in traditional rituals during the sacred Bahuda Yatra organised at Devboomi, Jindal Nagar, Angul, on July 24, 2026. Thousands of Jindal Steel employees, their families and members of surrounding communities joined the religious celebration. The festival marks the return journey of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra to the sanctum sanctorum following the annual Rath Yatra.
Jindal Family Performs Traditional Rituals
Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel, led the holy procession as the Prime Servitor. He was accompanied by his mother and Hisar MLA Savitri Jindal; his wife, Shallu Jindal, Chairperson of the Jindal Foundation; daughter Yashasvini Jindal; and son-in-law Shashwat Somani. Under the guidance of temple priests, members of the Jindal family performed the traditional Bahuda Yatra rituals in accordance with the sacred customs followed at Sri Khetra in Puri.
After completing the rituals, the family joined thousands of devotees in pulling the decorated chariots carrying Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra. The participation of employees, families and local residents created an atmosphere of devotion and celebration across Jindal Nagar.
Naveen Jindal Prays for People’s Well-being
Expressing gratitude on the occasion, Naveen Jindal said the Bahuda Yatra offered his family an opportunity to pray alongside employees and community members. “I am thankful to Lord Jagannath for blessing my family and me with the opportunity to participate in the sacred Bahuda Yatra along with the employees, their families and the local community at Jindal Nagar,” Jindal said.
“We pray to the Lord for the happiness, good health, peace and prosperity of every individual. May His divine blessings continue to guide us all. Jai Jagannath,” he added.
Jindal Foundation Continues Prasad Seva
During the celebration, Jindal also highlighted the community-support initiatives undertaken by the Jindal Foundation for pilgrims attending the Rath Yatra festivities in Puri. The Foundation’s Prasad Seva centres are operating round the clock to provide visiting pilgrims with free, wholesome meals and essential assistance during the festivities.
For more than a decade, the Jindal Foundation has organised its Rath Yatra Seva initiative from Rath Yatra through Suna Besha. According to the Foundation, the programme has supported and served lakhs of devotees over the years. The initiative reflects the Foundation’s continuing commitment to community service, compassionate care and support for pilgrims during major religious gatherings.
