MUMBAI: Ashis Mondal has honored with the India CSR Lifetime Achievement Award by India CSR Group at mega India CSR Leadership Summit & Awards held on May 26, 2017 at Mumbai in appreciation on his excellence service to the society particularly in the promotion of sustainable agriculture and linking smallholders with market. The summit was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Ramdas Athawale, Hon’ble Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India. More than 350 organization participated in the forum.
Ashis is a visionary, thought leader and accomplished writer. He is an acclaimed agriculture practitioner, theorist and a ground worker and calling him an encyclopedia of agriculture based livelihood creation is more apt.
Ashis Mondal also addressed the large gathering of CSR leaders and social workers and shared his vision and mission on agriculture development and livelihood creation.
Ashis Mondal is a versatile social worker, able reformer and an agriculture thought leader of contemporary India. Ashis is an embodiment of indomitable spirit to strive for creating the difference to the greater good. He has ideated, nurtured and built the Action for Social Advancement (ASA) to unheralded heights to being touted as think tanks, knowledge resource centres and powerhouses on the issues of theoretical and practical aspects of agriculture and livelihood in India.
He was instrumental in establishing Action for Social Advancement (ASA) in 1996 in Madhya Pradesh. He works in M.P., Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand in 1300 villages with a coverage of about 1, 40,000 smallholders families for farm based livelihoods promotion. In his leadership, there are nearly 300 professionals and over 450 para-professionals working full time in his organization.
His major contributions for the last 25 years include development of livelihoods for smallholders, particularly tribal and other marginalised groups through natural resources management particularly watersheds, minor irrigation, sustainable agriculture, financial inclusion and promotion of smallholders’ organisation for agribusiness.
The India CSR Lifetime Achievement Award is an acknowledgement of Ashis Mondal’s contribution to the areas of agriculture, agro-enterprise social and sustainable development, and human resources.
