Smita Sharma (39), working as Global Program Manager – CSR and Sustainability for the company UST, working from the UST’s Bengaluru working for 6 major UST locations in India (Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Telangana, and Noida), APAC, USA, and Australia regions.
With an experience of 12 years in the social development sector, she has worked with diverse organizations including Nonprofit, Government, Constitutional bodies, educational institutions, and helped me to challenge myself, learn and evolve as an ESG leader.
Briefly, her current work includes the below areas in the ESG framework:
People – CSR planning, execution, monitoring, evaluation, financial management, and internal and external stakeholder’s management. The major CSR focus areas are Education, Health, Livelihood, Disaster Relief, and Environment.
Planet – Working with the Workplace management team to work towards the integration of social, environmental innervations for organisational sustainability in energy, water conservation, sustainability at supply chain management, sustainable procurement aligned with ISO 14001 standards.
Profit – Interface with the company’s clients on the partnerships based on the CSR and ESG related milestones leading to the responsible investment and client partnership for UST.
She has prepared and published the Company’s first Global CSR policy aligned with CSR rules 2014 and UN SDGs.
She also established decentralized and institutionalized planning, implementation, and monitoring of CSR projects at all Geo locations with data monitoring and reporting. Annual CSR report.
Under her leadership, 80% of CSR projects are being directly implemented by the Company itself with 20%+ employee engagement through UST Welfare Foundation in India and the USA. She worked to reach and impact more than 1 lakh lives directly in the time of pandemic crises through relief and rehabilitation interventions through CSR initiatives.
