RAIGARH (India CSR®): Adani Enterprises Limited was honoured with the India CSR Awards at the Raigarh CSR Summit 2026, recognising its community-development initiatives in coal-mining regions of Raigarh and Sarguja. The award was presented in the presence of CSR, education and industry leaders at the India CSR Conclave – Viksit Bharat@Raigarh Region.

Lella Ramachandra Reddy, Chief of Cluster, Adani Enterprises Ltd, received the honour on behalf of the company. The Adani Foundation team was also present on the occasion.

The award was presented by Rusen Kumar, Founder and Editor of India CSR; Satish Jha, entrepreneur, philanthropist, author and former journalist from the United States; Sunil Ramdas, Chairman, SKA Group; and R.K. Trivedi, Principal, O.P. Jindal Schools.

In his keynote address, Lella Ramachandra Reddy highlighted Adani Enterprises’ responsible business practices and its approach to inclusive development in mining areas. He spoke about the importance of technology-enabled responsible mining, community engagement and long-term social and economic empowerment. He informed that Adani Coal Mining, under Adani Natural Resources, has been working towards the holistic development of mine communities through structured CSR programmes. Its initiatives cover 23 coal mine sites, 110 villages and five states, touching the lives of more than one lakh people.

The company’s healthcare programmes have reached over 45,000 beneficiaries through mobile health units, health camps, emergency ambulance services, assistive devices and awareness initiatives. These programmes include maternal-health support, menstrual-hygiene awareness and cervical-cancer screening. In education, more than 15,000 students have benefited from JNV coaching, school infrastructure upgrades, WASH facilities, scholarships, cycle distribution, transport support, digital laboratories, science-on-wheels and exposure visits. Tribal teachers, students and volunteers have also participated in mining-exposure programmes.

Skill development and livelihood initiatives have supported more than 2,500 beneficiaries, especially tribal women, self-help groups and diverse community groups. Training in agriculture-allied activities, tailoring, data-entry operations and micro-enterprise development has created income opportunities at the grassroots level.

The company has also contributed to rural infrastructure through roads, culverts, bridges, vendor zones, anganwadi centres, drinking-water systems, pond rejuvenation and solar off-grid solutions. These efforts have improved the lives of more than 20,000 residents, including Baiga and Paharia communities. Educational initiatives, including Adani Vidya Mandir, have further expanded access for tribal students.

Adani Enterprises Limited is undertaking significant CSR work in the Surguja region of Chhattisgarh, with a strong focus on women’s empowerment, skills, livelihoods and inclusive community development. A notable example is the Mahila Udyami Bahudeshia Sahakari Samiti (MUBSS), established in 2017. The cooperative has brought together 250 women across 39 self-help groups, creating an organised platform for enterprise, skills and collective economic progress. Its activities include dairy farming, mid-day meal services, a mini rice mill, spice grinding and packaging, sanitary-pad production, phenyl and handwash production, stitching centres and vermicompost units. The initiative has enabled 84 SHG women to earn sustainable incomes over the past five years.

The MUBSS programme has expanded its livelihood and capacity-building impact across Surguja. To date, 4,525 community members have received training in sewing-machine operation, data entry and assistant electrician work, among other trades. Eight micro-enterprise units are currently operational, providing livelihood opportunities to 70 women. The programme has strengthened all 39 SHGs under the MUBSS cooperative, supported 945 farmers and facilitated 747 agricultural interventions. Through these efforts, Adani Natural Resources is helping revive aspirations in mining-affected communities by building women’s leadership, local enterprise and sustainable sources of income.

The company has also contributed to rural infrastructure through roads, culverts, bridges, vendor zones, anganwadi centres, drinking-water systems, pond rejuvenation and solar off-grid solutions. These initiatives have improved the lives of more than 20,000 residents, including Baiga and Paharia communities, and reflect the company’s commitment to dignity, self-reliance and long-term community development.

Rusen Kumar, Founder and Editor of India CSR, said, “The true meaning of developed India lies in ensuring that communities around mines are not merely spectators to development, but active partners in it. Responsible business must revive aspirations, strengthen local capacity and deliver dignity, opportunity and confidence to every family.”

The summit underlined the collective role of government, industry, communities and citizens in advancing the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision. Adani’s “Growth with Goodness” philosophy reflects its stated commitment to need-based community development, stakeholder trust and respect for local cultural diversity.
