Panjim, Goa, 21st December 2022: Vedanta’s Sesa Goa Iron Ore business wins big at the 11th India CSR Awards held at PHD Chamber, Delhi. Sesa Goa Iron Ore Business honoured as a winner in the category of COVID-19 response for its COVID-19 relief project whereas, Value Added Business (VAB) secured first place in the category of Integrated village development for its flagship initiative ‘Project Gram Nirman’, at 13th India CSR Summit.
The award ceremony took place on December 17, 2022, in New Delhi.
The company was honored at the 13th India CSR Leadership Summit by Chief Guest Shri R.K. Sinha, Hon’ble Former Rajya Sabha Member and, Founder & CMD of Security & Intelligence Services (India) Limited (SIS) during the 13th India CSR Leadership Summit in the presence of Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, Additional Chief Secretary to Govt., Planning, Program Monitoring & Statistics Dept., Govt. of Karnataka, and Rusen Kumar, Founder and Managing Editor of India CSR.

Vedanta’s Sesa Goa Iron Ore Business provided relentless support to the people and state Government of Karnataka, Goa and Dodamarg – Taluka of Maharashtra including frontline warriors through various community outreach initiatives such as contributing to the Chief Minister Covid relief funds, improving medical infrastructure, supplying liquid medical oxygen and medical equipments, distributing sanitizers, and supplying groceries & ration kits during the COVID imposed lockdown phase.
COVID-19 response
Vedanta Sesa Goa also handed over two-100 bedded covid hospitals in Chitradurga district and Dharwad district in Karnataka respectively and provided 100 bedded COVID treatment facilities to Goa Medical College for supporting respective state Governments in combating the pandemic. Vedanta further supported Women Self-Help Groups by providing an alternate form of income during the Covid-19 lockdown by engaging them for stitching of face masks.
Project Gram Nirman
Vedanta’s VAB launched Project Gram Nirman in 2021 in partnership with Vanarai NGO to facilitate integrated village development in the peripheral villages. Under the project Gram Nirman company drives various structured community development interventions across multiple thematic areas including sustainable livelihood, women empowerment, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene and Agriculture development in Amona & Navelim villages from Goa.
Leena Verenkar, Group CSR Head- Vedanta Limited, and Ashwani Pathak, Sr. Officer CSR- VAB, Vedanta Limited received the awards at India CSR Leadership Summit & Awards ceremony.
