Scaled across several states and unions territories in India, Project Unnati is currently operating in 10,000 acres of land

New Delhi: Coca-Cola India has been recognised for its sustainable agriculture initiative ‘Project Unnati’ at the 11th India CSR Awards held in New Delhi on December 17, 2022. In line with its efforts towards creating ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, Coca-Cola India has successfully implemented Project Unnati as a part of its Fruit Circular Economy initiative. Project Unnati continues to aid the Indian agri-ecosystem by enabling and empowering lakhs of fruit farmers across several states and union territories of India.

The Company was honoured at the 13th India CSR Leadership Summit by Chief Guest Shri R.K. Sinha, Hon’ble Former Rajya Sabha Member and, Founder & CMD of Security & Intelligence Services (India) Limited (SIS) during the 13th India CSR Leadership Summit in the presence of Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, Additional Chief Secretary to Govt., Planning, Program Monitoring & Statistics Dept., Govt. of Karnataka, and Rusen Kumar, Founder and Managing Editor of India CSR.

Enabling a productivity increase

Focused on five fruit varieties – Mango, Apple, Orange, Grapes, Litchi, and sugarcane- the project has successfully adopted Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) coupled with Ultra high-density fruit plantation technology (UHDFP) enabling a productivity increase of up to 5X for certain farmers. This has led to a significant increase in the farmer’s incomes, thereby upscaling and enhancing their livelihoods.

Creating effective and sustainable socio-economic models

Since its inception in 2011, project Unnati has uplifted the livelihoods of small-scale and marginal fruit farmers in India. It is geared towards creating effective and sustainable socio-economic models to support the Government of India’s vision of a self-reliant India. It is about creating sustained outcomes that drive value and fuel growth.

Project Unnati in multiple states

Over a decade, Project Unnati has scaled to Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Bihar, accelerating lakhs of farmers in India to become self-reliant through the adoption of Package of Practices (POP) and superior germplasm. Project Unnati has directly intervened in more than 10 thousand acres of land, and impacted and trained more than 2 lakh farmers in India.
