HYDERABAD: IBS Hyderabad case study Apple Board’s ‘Steve Jobs Dilemma’ won the Certified Management Accountants of Alberta $10,000 award for Outstanding Case in Corporate Governance at the North American Case Research Association’s (NACRA) October 2011 Conference in San Antonio, Texas. The award was made by CMA-Alberta and NACRA.

The case study was authored by Prof. Debapratim Purkayastha of IBS Hyderabad, who presented the case study at NACRA’s 2011 annual conference in San Antonio, Texas. The competition was intense as it attracted submissions from top B-Schools from around the world. The other cases that made it to the Corporate Governance track shortlist were from University of Denver, California State University, McMaster University, Montclair State University, University of Puget Sound, South Dakota State University, Baylor University, Lehigh University, Grand Valley State University, Ferris State University, TA Pai Management Institute, IMT Nagpur and University of Technology, Jamaica.

The North American Case Research Association (NACRA) is a nonprofit, voluntary professional association whose mission is to promote excellence in case research, writing, and teaching in business and other administrative disciplines. It is a collaborative organization of approximately 500 researchers, case writers and teachers, mostly in the business disciplines, who support each other’s research and writing efforts. NACRA’s 2011 annual conference in San Antonio, Texas, was held at the St. Anthony, an AAA four diamond historic hotel, on October 13-15, 2011.

CMA Alberta is the self-governing professional body of more than 6,800 Certified Management Accountants (CMAs), with members employed in every business sector in the province of Alberta. As a member of the CMA Canada partnership, it has links to the more than 50,000 CMAs living and working throughout Canada and the world.

IBS Hyderabad is one of the leading B-Schools in India. It is a constituent of IFHE, which was declared a “Deemed to be University” under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Since its establishment in 1995, IBS Hyderabad has grown impressively and achieved widespread recognition from business and industry, academic circles, and professional bodies. IBS Hyderabad, which consistently ranks among the top B-Schools in India, has adopted the case study method wholeheartedly and is the only one in India to offer a unique 100% case-based MBA program.
