GURGAON: HP India unveiled its first HP World on Wheels vehicle at DLF Cybergreens, Gurgaon on 8 Feb, 2017. The program, called HP World on Wheels (WoW), is part of HP’s commitment to build and deploy 48 self-contained, Internet-enabled digital inclusion and learning labs in PPP model aimed at driving digital literacy, E education, Entrepreneurship training, and other citizen services in rural India.
Rajiv Srivastava- MD, HP India and Dr. Dinesh Tyagi- CEO, Common Service Center, Ministry of Communication & Information Technology jointly unveiled the vehicle in front of an august gathering at DLF Cybergreens. Through its fleet of 48 vehicles and collaboration with other Corporates, NPOs, Govt Programs etc, HP aims to reach 6,400 Indian villages, impacting more than 15 million people over the next six years.
Each 20-seat, IT-enabled HP WoW vehicle is equipped with HP computing and printing equipment, such as HP Thin Clients, an HP Workstation, and an HP OfficeJet all-in-one printer, as well as software suites and e-learning tools, like HP Classroom Manager, HP VideoBook & HP Life.
On the environment part, HP WoW Vehicles are designed with leading technology to reduce emissions and maximize energy efficiency.
Each mobile lab is powered by 10 high-efficiency solar panels and battery packs, generating and storing enough power to sustain the lab’s daily energy requirements even during cloudy/rainy days.
As a secondary power source, the vehicle also has a silent generator installed below the deck. Needless to mention, entire vehicle could be connected to direct AC supply wherever available.
The offering of the vehicle include Digital Literacy Training, EDP Training for youth, E education for students (K-12), Common Citizenship Activities including Aaadhar Card, Ration card, driving license, Land records, Financial Inclusions etc; Video conferencing for specific groups etc.
The project is part of HP’s global initiative to create opportunities in underserved communities and empower people everywhere to build a better, more prosperous life.
It also supports the Indian government’s Digital India initiative to transform the country into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.
