UDAIPUR (India CSR): Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and among the top ten global silver producers, today inaugurated a state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) at Rabindranath Tagore Hospital (RNT Hospital), Udaipur. The facility was inaugurated by Gulab Chand Kataria, Honourable Governor of Punjab & Administrator of Chandigarh, in the presence of MLA Tarachand Jain (Udaipur City), MLA Phool Singh Meena (Rural) and Vipin Mathur, Principal of RNT, along with senior officials of Hindustan Zinc and medical leadership from RNT Hospital.
This development marks a significant milestone following the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier this year between Hindustan Zinc and RNT Hospital for the comprehensive redevelopment and upgradation of the hospital into a future-ready, multi-specialty healthcare facility. The initiative reflects continued collaboration with government support, donor funding mechanisms such as DMFT, and institutional partnerships to enhance public healthcare infrastructure.
The newly inaugurated Cath Lab is equipped with advanced cardiac technology to support minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. It enables critical interventions such as coronary angiography, angioplasty, and stent placement, strengthening the hospital’s capacity to manage cardiac emergencies and deliver timely, specialized care. The facility will expand access to advanced cardiac services for over 30 lakh residents of Udaipur district, while also serving patients from neighbouring districts in Rajasthan.
Speaking on the occasion, Gulab Chand Kataria, Honourable Governor of Punjab & Administrator of Chandigarh, said, “The initiative to strengthen healthcare services in Udaipur with the support of Hindustan Zinc is commendable and highly appreciable.”

The Cath Lab forms a key component of Hindustan Zinc’s broader commitment under the MoU to support the redesign, upgradation, and modernization of RNT Hospital. The initiative aims to transform the hospital into a centre of excellence with best-in-class medical technology, improved patient care infrastructure, and enhanced research capabilities. This addition also positions Udaipur as an emerging hub for advanced cardiac care and contributes to the city’s growing potential in medical tourism. With the addition of this advanced cardiac facility, residents of Udaipur – Zinc City, and neighbouring districts will gain improved access to affordable, high-quality cardiac care.
Beyond strengthening local healthcare, the initiative underscores Hindustan Zinc’s ongoing commitment to driving meaningful social impact through investments in critical healthcare infrastructure and improving access to quality medical services across Rajasthan, where cardiovascular diseases account for nearly 25 – 30% of all deaths.
