At its Vikhroli campus, the company’s rainwater system replenishes over 4.25 lakh cubic metres of water each year.

MUMBAI (India CSR): Godrej Enterprises Group has been certified water positive by TÜV India Private Limited, following a rigorous third-party audit of all 25 of its manufacturing plants across India. With a Water Positive Index of 1.87, Godrej replenishes 1.87 litres of water for every litre consumed all through its within fence initiatives, reaffirming its position as a sustainability leader in India’s manufacturing sector.

The certification by TÜV India, an independent agency with its own globally aligned Water Positive Scoring Framework validates that Godrej’s water stewardship efforts go beyond compliance to create a measurable, regenerative impact. The verification process included detailed scrutiny of water accounting data, recharge, recycling and consumption practices, and the robustness of monitoring and quality assurance systems across all sites.

Commenting on this milestone, Tejashree Joshi, Head, Environmental Sustainability, Godrej Enterprises Group, said, “Achieving Water Positive certification across all our plants is a proud validation of Godrej Enterprises Group’s enduring commitment to responsible and regenerative growth. Our aim goes beyond minimizing environmental impact as we strive to restore and replenish more water than we consume. The TÜV India independent verification strengthens the credibility of our efforts, ensuring that every litre replenished is backed by science, transparent data, and measurable outcomes. This milestone reflects our resolve to build water-secure communities and shape a sustainable future for India.”

Water stewardship is a key pillar of Godrej’s sustainability agenda and aligns with India’s national vision for climate resilience and resource conservation. Across its campuses, the company has implemented rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, and wastewater recycling systems, leading to a about 40% reduction in overall water usage.

At the Vikhroli campus alone, the company’s rainwater harvesting infrastructure can replenish over 4,25,000 cubic metres of water annually.  In the past year alone, Godrej Enterprises Group recharged and reused over 2.02 billion litres of water across its sites, a powerful reflection of the scale of positive impact achieved through 15 years of dedicated water stewardship.

As water scarcity and climate change continue to escalate, Godrej Enterprises Group’s certified Water Positive status showcases its proactive approach to driving sustainable industrial growth. The independent verification from TÜV India reinforces the company’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and nation-building through sustainable engineering.
