NEW DELHI: Godfrey Phillips Bravery donated Rs.30 lakh to Sudinalay Shelter Services. The event was attended by noted dignitaries including Ms. Shovana Narayan, Secretary Cultural Affairs, ICW & Joint Director General, Commonwealth Games 2010; Shalini Dewan, Director, United Nations Information Centre, India & Bhutan; Sreerupa Mitra, President & Programme Chair ICW and Director, Sudinalay Shelter Services; and Ms. Nita Kapoor, Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Godfrey Phillips India.

A series of activities

This year the International Congress of Women dedicates its mission to homeless women affected by conflict, insurgency, war and terror. Godfrey Phillips Bravery is supporting the month long initiatives of ICW in New Delhi uptil March 31, 2009. This will include a series of activities like photo exhibitions, dance performances, recitals, students and artist conclaves etc.

Women’s Empowerment Godfrey Phillips Bravery

Godfrey Phillips Bravery has always supported and encouraged women, since it was instituted in 1990, by honoring courageous women from the Indian society. With a focus on Women’s Empowerment Godfrey Phillips Bravery has today increased its scope of work and intends to help make women economically self-sufficient and independent by providing them with vocational skills and training.

Life’s mission to working towards bringing justice to all

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of International Congress of Women, Nita Kapoor, Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Godfrey Phillips India said, “It is our pleasure to be associated with an organization such as Sudinalay Shelter Services that dedicate themselves and their life’s mission to working towards bringing justice to all, especially women. I feel very happy that we are able to contribute to the cause of the International Congress of Women. This contribution to Sudinalay Shelter for the Homeless Women is not just about better facilities for women. For us it is about that little happiness we can bring to these women who have mostly known none through their lives.”

Focus on liberation, joy and happiness

Sreerupa Mitra, Sudinalay Shelter Services said, ‘International Congress of Women is the longest marathon congress with a series of ambitious events focused on liberation, joy and happiness of women and not just a cry for their rights. We are happy to be a associated with the congress together with Godfrey Phillips Bravery we aim to keep extend our continued support towards the cause of women empowerment.’
