Building toilets was one of the major promises Prime Minister Narendra Modi made during his speech from the Red Fort ramparts in his first Independence Day address last year. Towards this end, since the launch of Swachh Bharat, nearly 80 lakh toilets have been constructed. Almost 4.25 lakh toilets were built in 2.62 lakh schools nationwide in one year.
