NEW DELHI: Essar Foundation, the CSR arm of Essar, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to offer job-oriented training.
In the first phase, the partners are aiming to train 1,000 youth across eight cities in customer service, tele-calling, marketing and sales skills. Essar Foundation is also funding the programme by infusing Rs 40 lakh. The Foundation will ensure linkages towards employing the trained youth, a release stated.
The collaborative skill development programme, named ‘Ajeevika’, is expected to kick off by June 2015 in Delhi NCR and Ahmedabad.
“Essar Foundation is already active in skilling the youth in rural and semi-urban areas and with this programme, we can take our initiative even further,” said Deepak Arora, CEO, Essar Foundation.
NSDC willl execute the identification, training and management of the structured skill development programme. The programme will focus on underprivileged sections of society and underdeveloped regions of the country.
