NEW DELHI: Dr Jawahar Surisetti has designed a CSR initiative by JK Lakshmi Cement called Unnati which is a precursor to the requirements of skills generated by the Make in India movement of PM Modi. The endeavor is to preempt the requirements of skilled manpower generated by the on ground activation of Make in India and to upgrade the skills of existing manpower.
‘Unnati’ was kickstarted at Chhattisgarh and Orissa by a three day skill certified training of Masons in Raipur, Bhilai, Bhubaneswar and Khurda of 400 masons. The aim of masons training is to be aware of the latest technologies so that by the time the 100 smart cities declared by the Prime Minister are activated the masons would have been updated with the latest technologies in construction, the importance of speed in execution and verticalization of construction.
The hands on workshop was designed by a team of gold medalists from the technology team of Santosh Rungta Group of Institutions and the practical demonstrations to ascertain the utility of the processes adopted in construction and the whys of every process were simplistically elaborated by the trainers.
The masons enjoyed the three day residential workshop interspersed with fun activities, sumptuous food and camaraderie which is otherwise missing from the lives of this mason. The book of skills carried home by the masons along with the three day honorarium to compensate for their wage loss, a helmet for their safety , a fluorescent vest and an accident insurance policy of rupees fifty thousand was bestowed to each of the masons who were certified trained.
The aim of this CSR activity by JK Lakshmi Cement and Lighthouse Solutions is to increase the earnability of the masons by providing them skills of future and also help them gain knowledge to become contractors and rise up in life. ‘Unnati’ would upskill various target segments of society pan India and aims to do about ten thousand skillings in the year out of which the first phase has opened to accolades from the mason community.
Dr Jawahar Surisetti feels that all stakeholders in the society should pitch in and prepare the skills of future in all areas to make ‘Make in India’ more successful and so that our Indian brethren have the skills to create the India of future. He applauded the CSR activity of JK Lakshmi Cement in ‘Unnati’ of the nation.
