NEW DELHI: At a function organized by Federation of Indian chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) at Federation House, New Delhi on December 8, 2012, Deepak Mehta, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Deepak Nitrite Ltd, and Ms. Archana Joshi, Director, Deepak Foundation received the award from Shri Sachin Pilot, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs. At this event, Shri R.V. Kanoria, President, FICCI, Smt. Rajashree Birla, Chairperson, CSR and Community Development Committee of FICCI and several other corporate leaders, Presidents, CEOs, CSR champions representing companies such as Tata, Birla, ITC, Mahindra & Mahindra were present.
The Business World FICCI CSR award is recognized as a benchmark that identifies the most socially responsible Indian corporate house in relation to global CSR standards. This year, three companies were selected out of over 100 contenders and were awarded for their outstanding corporate social responsibility initiatives. The award is based on an intensive 3-tier assessment process conducted by three independent assessors. Firstly, an assessment of factual information was conducted by Grant Thornton India, a prestigious accountancy firm in the country. Thereafter, an ‘on-site-assessment’ of the CSR work of the shortlisted companies was done by BIMTECH Management Institute. Lastly, a panel of independent internationally recognized
and respected judges from diverse industry sectors and disciplines evaluated the entries and decided on the winners.
On this occasion, the Minister of State of Corporate Affairs, Shri Sachin Pilot congratulated the winners and said that “Indian corporates are not only realizing the importance of giving back to society but also by doing it meaningfully”.
After receiving the award, Mr. Deepak Mehta, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Deepak Nitrite Limited stated that “we judge ourselves and our efforts on the same scale when we bring value to society through CSR as when we bring return on investment for our stakeholders. Singular goal, tireless efforts, management excellence & sincere dedication are the same principles of qualities for success”.
