NEW DELHI (India CSR): Project Nanhi Kali today launched its new film ‘Power of One’ that showcases the far-reaching scale of the sweeping change that true social impact can have on individual lives beyond just the mere numbers.

Whether it’s the quiet shift in how a girl sees herself, the growing belief in her own potential, or the gradual change in how her family and community start to support her aspirations, these are transformations that cannot always be quantified. But they are nonetheless deeply felt.

The film brings this philosophy to life by capturing moments that often go unseen. In doing so at a time when impact in the development sector is often measured in numbers, it urges a shift in perspective to look beyond and recognise the transformation in even a single girl’s life. It highlights how change doesn’t stop with her but instead ripples through her family, her community and beyond.

Commenting on the new film, Sheetal Mehta, Trustee and Executive Director, K. C. Mahindra Education Trust, said, “Impact is often measured in numbers, but the real impact reaches far beyond. This is reflected in the way a girl carries herself, her self-worth and the aspirations she begins to nurture. This positive change does not only benefit the girl but also uplifts her family and her community. Power of One is a reminder that every girl matters. Because when even one life is transformed, it creates a ripple effect that reaches far beyond what we can measure.”

Kainaz Karmakar and Harshad Rajadhyaksha, Chief Creative Officers, Ogilvy India, said, “In our third major film for Nanhi Kali, we focused on the longevity and impact of this over-three-decades program. We at Ogilvy along with the core client team went across cities and centres to understand just how many lives this mission has benefitted. And therein was this idea born – that we don’t need the validation of numbers and statistics alone to gauge this program by. Because despite the impressive numbers, when any single Nanhi Kali finds it in herself to stand up and assert herself in her world, that one girl is the program growing a little bit more. Our compliments to our driven larger team at Ogilvy and our director, Afshan, for pouring life into the script!”

Over three decades, Project Nanhi Kali has grown to support almost a million girls across the country. But at its core lies a simple belief: that every girl matters, that the true measure of impact lies in the individual journeys behind the numbers. Each girl supported is not just part of a larger number, but a story of change, of confidence discovered, aspirations shaped and futures reimagined.

Founded at the K.C. Mahindra Education Trust and jointly managed by the Naandi Foundation, Project Nanhi Kali was established to support underserved girls through education. Over time, it has evolved with the changing education landscape in India. Today, it is a holistic program which aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, integrating 21st century skills such as life skills, digital and financial literacy and sports leadership skills into its curriculum. The objective is to ensure that girls are equipped with skills that will help them navigate life with confidence and resilience, enabling a smoother transition into higher education and the workforce.
