NEW DELHI: This World Environment Day, Magic Bus India Foundation organised a three-day Plogging Party to clean up parts of Delhi and to instill in children a sense of responsibility towards the environment.
Led by Jacob Cherian, a renowned plogger from Bangalore, the activity involved clearing litter in an organised and hygienic manner while running and bagging the litter in biodegradable garbage bags.
The event began on 5th June, World Environment Day and concluded on 7th June and is supported by Hero MotoCorp.
The plogging party received participation from over 950 children and visited several locations in South, East and North Delhi like Bilaspur, Harinagar, Shashi Garden, Holambi Kolan, Suraj Park among others.
Magic Bus is one of the largest poverty alleviation programmes in India, working with 400,000 children and 10,000 youth in 22 States and 77 districts.
Hero MotoCorp and Magic Bus reach 8000 children and 1500 young adults in Delhi with a programme designed to equip them with the skills they need to break the cycle of poverty. The Hamari Pari programme, with a focus on inclusion of girls, was initiated three years ago, as a holistic attempt to transforming children’s lives.
