Mumbai: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Kotak Securities Limited (“KSL”) today announced that it has set up a ‘Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy’ unit at the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital (“HBCHRC” / “Hospital”) Visakhapatnam. The hospital – is a unit of the Tata Memorial Centre, is a 170 bedded tertiary referral oncologic centre at Aganampudi has been commissioned with several other units to augment its care of cancer patients. The ‘Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy’ unit was inaugurated by Prof. Umesh Mahantshetty, Director – HBCHRC, Visakhapatnam and Parama Deb,AVP – CSR, Kotak Securities Ltd.
The ‘Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy’ unit is the first civilian unit in the Eastern coast of India, which is funded under Kotak Securities’ CSR initiative on healthcare. This hyperbaric oxygen therapy is used to treat emergencies such as gas embolism and decompression sickness and to treat many other conditions such as radiation induced cystitis and proctitis, diabetic foot and salvage of tissue flaps. Further, this unit will be used for cancer diagnostics and care research including reducing complications of cancer treatment.
