NEW DELHI (India CSR): In fiscal 2022, Infosys Limited has spent over Rs. 1.98 Crore on various social development works to execute CSR projects in designated aspirational districts as identified by government bodies.
It has covered four aspirational districts this year. However, since 2015 it has in total covered 32 aspirational districts.

During fiscal 2022, Infosys has spent Rs.344.91 crores on various social and environmental projects. The CSR unspent balance of Rs. 51.79 crore is towards various ongoing projects mainly related to COVID-19 relief efforts and will be transferred to the unspent CSR account and spent in accordance with the Companies (Corporate Social Responsibility Policy) Rules, 2014 and amendments thereunder, the company annual report revealed.

In fiscal 2022, the Company’s CSR efforts included COVID-19 relief in multiple states. The company reported around 73 lakh beneficiaries of CSR projects.
Wipro Limited CSR Spending on aspirational districts
Wipro Limited spent Rs. 221.6 Cr as against its obligation of Rs. 166.6 Cr towards CSR activities during the financial year 2021-22 (the year ended March 31, 2021). An excess of Rs. 85.6 Cr which was spent in the financial year 2021-22 is available for set-off, the company said. The company has spent Rs. 1,08,81,000 crores on CSR projects undertaken in designated aspirational districts.

The districts are encouraged to monitor the progress of the blocks that lead to the overall improvement of the district. The Aspirational Districts Programme essentially is aimed at localizing Sustainable Development Goals, leading to the progress of the nation.
Launched by the Hon’ble PM in January 2018, the Aspirational Districts programme aims to quickly and effectively transform 112 most under-developed districts across the country. The broad contours of the programme are Convergence (of Central & State Schemes), Collaboration (of Central, State level ‘Prabhari’ Officers & District Collectors), and Competition among districts through monthly delta ranking; all driven by a mass movement.

As per the provisions of the Companies Act, 2013, a company meeting the specified criteria shall spend at least 2% of its average net profits for three immediately preceding financial years on CSR activities.
