New Delhi: Himmata Ram Bhambhu, a nature lover, conservationist and environmentalist has won Padma Shri.
He has been involved in Planting and preserving trees and motivating people for nature conservation in forest deficit districts like Nagaur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Sikar, Ajmer etc. since last 25 years.
He is associated with Mahavir International Sansthan Nagaur for Green India Mission since 2013.
He has developed a unique integrated agro-forestry plantation and biodiversity conservation centre. The green patch he has created at village Harima in Nagaur in an area of 6 ha has become unique rehabilitation center for Peacocks, Chinkaras and other various rare wild birds and animals. His efforts have been widely appreciated and he has been awarded with many awards.
He has been associated with People for Animals programe run by Menka Gandhi. He was awarded by UNESCO in 1999 for environment protection. He was an instrument in getting declared Gogelao and Rotoo as conservation reserves. He is an awardee of Rajasthan State Amrita Devi Vishnoi award for 2003.
He is an awardee of Rajiv Gandhi Environment Protection Award-2014.
