NGO becomes 79th entity listed on NSE’s SSE platform; targets long-term rural transformation through measurable village development models
MUMBAI (India CSR): The Centre for Transforming India (CFTI) has been officially listed on the Social Stock Exchange (SSE) of the National Stock Exchange of India, marking a major milestone in its journey to scale grassroots development. With this listing, CFTI has become the 79th NGO to be empanelled as an approved partner organization on the platform.
The recognition strengthens CFTI’s credibility as a transparent and accountable institution committed to strong governance and measurable social impact. Through the SSE platform, the organization can now access performance-linked philanthropy, structured reporting frameworks, and long-term impact capital, enabling it to expand its grassroots development initiatives across India.
Village Transformation Vision
CFTI’s long-term mission is to transform at least 1,000 villages across India by the year 2050. With more than 6 lakh villages in the country, the organization believes that meaningful change must begin at the grassroots level.
According to its development model, it requires approximately Rs. 3 crore to Rs. 5 crore over three years to holistically transform a single village through sustained and outcome-driven interventions. These efforts focus on improving education, water access, infrastructure, livelihoods, sanitation, and community empowerment.
The SSE listing now provides an opportunity to align long-term capital with measurable community outcomes, ensuring sustainable and accountable rural development.
Leadership Vision Statement
Speaking on this milestone, Mrs. Chitralekha Nrupal Patil, Founder and Mentor Trustee of CFTI, emphasized the organization’s commitment to grassroots change.
“CFTI is a grassroots-level movement with strong community connection, and this listing reflects our continued commitment to scale our work through ethical practices and transparent governance. Our long-term vision is to transform 1,000 villages by 2050 through deep, last-mile educational solutions that improve enrolment, access, retention, measurable learning outcomes, and community respect for education,” she said.
She further highlighted that CFTI aims to develop sustainable and replicable grassroots models that can set new benchmarks for rural education and development in India.
Grassroots Impact Achievements
Since its establishment in 2009, CFTI has demonstrated measurable impact across some of India’s most underserved regions, including Aspirational Districts. The organization works across several key sectors such as education, skill development, water and sanitation, women’s empowerment, healthcare, and sports development.
Education remains at the heart of CFTI’s work through its flagship “My School, My Pride” initiative, which focuses on renovating government schools and improving learning environments. The initiative provides modern classrooms, upgraded toilets, computer and science labs, solar panels, RO water systems, sports materials, and academic kits to students.
Beyond education, CFTI has impacted over 85,000 lives through the distribution of more than 35,000 bicycles to girls, helping improve school access and attendance. The organization has also supported the construction of over 100 safe pucca houses for tribal communities, improving living conditions and dignity.
CFTI is also addressing water scarcity in drought-prone Coastal Maharashtra by constructing check dams in Shenwai village to ensure year-round water availability. The organization plans to scale this successful water conservation model to over 100 villages in the future.
Sustainable Development Partnerships
CFTI’s initiatives are strengthened through partnerships with corporates, public sector enterprises, and high-net-worth individuals who share a commitment to sustainable development.
One such partnership with PPFAS Asset Management Pvt. Ltd., a socially responsible financial institution, has helped strengthen digital and academic infrastructure in underserved schools. Through this collaboration, over 2,500 students have benefited from improved learning facilities.
The organization has also implemented women’s skill development programs and Self Help Groups (SHGs) that have benefited more than 5,000 women, helping them build livelihoods and financial independence.
Through Project Dhristi, CFTI has restored vision and dignity to underserved communities by distributing over 1 lakh spectacles and supporting numerous cataract surgeries. In addition, sports infrastructure projects such as the Veshvi basketball court, Pondicherry basketball court, and a sports complex in Nagaon are helping engage youth and strengthen community participation.
Supported by a network of over 700 volunteers and experienced leadership, CFTI continues to bridge critical gaps in education, healthcare, water security, livelihoods, and infrastructure, working toward long-term, community-led rural transformation.
