Over 500 trainees have become entrepreneurs, supported by mentorship and financial aid, contributing to sustainable rural development.
MUMBAI (India CSR): Ambuja Cements, the cement and building material company of the diversified Adani Group, under its CSR initiative Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Institute (SEDI), has transformed the lives of more than 20,334 rural youth in Gujarat. The initiative spans regions like Kodinar, Surat, Gandhinagar, Sanand, Morbi, Mahuva, and Rajula.
The programme offers training in market-driven trades such as electrical work, welding, CNC cutting, and data entry, the programme has provided vital employment and business opportunities. With a remarkable placement rate of over 75%, over 16,285 youth have found jobs with more than 425 placement partners, helping uplift their families out of poverty.
This programme focuses on breaking gender stereotypes, encouraging young women to pursue careers in typically male-dominated trades like welding and electrical work. To date, 9,565 young women have enrolled in such courses, while men are encouraged to explore professions in healthcare, such as nursing.
Additionally, Ambuja Cements promotes entrepreneurship, with over 500 rural trainees establishing their own businesses, receiving financial and mentoring support.
This initiative reflects Ambuja Cements’ commitment to empowering communities and fostering sustainable development by equipping rural youth with essential skills that meet industry demands, thus paving the way for brighter futures.
