Adani Foundation at ACC Thondebhavi helped 20 elderly residents in Belathuru access revised monthly pensions of Rs. 1,200 through awareness and documentation support.
NEW DELHI (India CSR): ACC, along with the Adani Foundation, is helping communities access government welfare schemes and social security benefits through targeted outreach and community engagement initiatives around its Thondebhavi plant.
A household survey conducted by the MSMM team in Belathuru village of Chikkaballapur district revealed a significant gap affecting several elderly residents. Twenty individuals between the ages of 65 and 75 were receiving monthly pensions of only Rs. 600 to Rs. 800 despite being eligible for Rs. 1,200 under applicable government provisions. For many, this shortfall impacted their ability to meet daily expenses and manage essential household needs.
Following approval by government authorities, all 20 beneficiaries now receive the revised monthly pension of Rs. 1,200.
To address this issue, the Adani Foundation team at ACC Thondebhavi undertook a focused effort to raise awareness about pension entitlements and support beneficiaries through the application process. Working closely with the Gram Panchayat and relevant government departments, the team facilitated age verification at the district hospital, ensured proper documentation and assisted the locals with the timely submission of pension enhancement applications. Throughout the process, community members were also informed that no additional fees or payments were being collected from the beneficiaries, helping build transparency and trust.
The intervention resulted in all 20 applications being successfully processed and approved by government authorities. Today, each beneficiary receives the revised monthly pension of Rs. 1,200, ensuring access to the full benefits they are entitled to under the scheme.
Awareness and last-mile support helped elderly residents secure their rightful pension benefits.
For the elderly residents of Belathuru, the enhanced pension provides greater financial security and dignity in their later years. This initiative by the Adani Foundation highlights how awareness, last-mile facilitation and collaboration with local institutions can help ensure that welfare benefits reach the people they are intended to serve, strengthening social inclusion within rural communities.
