Support My City campaign, an initiative by educationist Dr. Chandan Agarwal , is helping those in need  across Kanpur and several other parts of Uttar Pradesh from people’s contribution.

The idea behind this initiative is to provide assistance to the needy by all means and in all aspects. The campaign initiative reaches out to the financially weaker sections of the society through multiple welfare organizations and in its individual capacity as well. They then, provide them with food, utility kits, blankets, clothes, books and many other items of necessity.

Ranging from these essential commodities of everyday use, Dr. Agarwal has also deployed a round-the-clock running ambulance, education schemes and various other long-term reliefs. Innumerable philanthropic activities, too are undertaken with this campaign. Some of the being, blood donation drives, Gau Seva centers, Go Green i.e. tree plantation drives, shiksha daan and Save Girl Child campaigns.

“During my visit in the southern parts of our country, I was immensely impressed by a similar campaign running through multiple cities. No sooner did I come to Kanpur, I began ideating and implementing the framework for a welfare initiative that was similar yet distinct from the ones inspired”, says Dr. Chandan Agarwal.

The campaign was initially funded by Dr. Chandan Agarwal and even today monetary assistance to run the campaign aggressively comes from him and some other voluntary donations from acquainted individuals. However, the task is successfully accomplished with flourishing results only through his dedicated team and unshakable efforts of the NGOs that he is closely associated with. All the tireless efforts come from these dedicated entities come together to heal the hurt in the parts of Uttar Pradesh, a state with a population of over 21 crores. The campaign also has spread its wings to neighboring states of Bihar and Jharkhand and aids people even in the remote areas of their districts.

Being ardent supporters of girl child education, they also reach out to inaccessible parts of the state and runs awareness programs in favor of empowering women and girl child. His team and the NGOs also frequent the state’s hospitals and schools at regular intervals. Their constant aim is to provide these institutions with resources that are in deficit and aid their patients or students with the commodities of priority.

Support My City is an outright proponent of holistic development in education. For him, it is crucial to impart children with all forms of training that will lead to the best development of a child. Therefore, he runs multiple sports and extra-curricular programs for students across states. In his opinion, being physically fit and active, fuels the brain to enable people work more efficiently. Standing true to this, he has institutions that train young students with physical education and sports so that children who are passionate about games can also be nurtured to pursue their interest in the latter parts of their career.

Very recently, owing to the nationwide lockdown imposed, many stranded laborers as well as local daily wage workers were struggling to keep themselves alive, falling prey to hunger and empty stomachs. In those circumstances, Dr. Agarwal’s team, fed thousands of people with food packets. In compliance with NGOs, over 20 thousand food packets were distributed to those who were in need during the testing times fallen with the pandemic. Obviously, the devastation caused by Covid-19 has been beyond comprehensions. Even the global super powers were found struggling in devising the best medical strategies. Hence, India too has witnessed shortage of beds, ambulances and ventilators. Innumerable people succumbed to the virus even before they could get any medical help.

Looking at these circumstances, Support My City assumed the responsibility of doing its bit even for the healthcare sector. Through the campaign donated an ambulance was donated to the state. This ambulance has been curated to be available to the ill, round the clock across the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Being functionable 24*7, this service will save all those lives who couldn’t find help in the critical time.

“I feel very content with the work that my team and I have been able to accomplish to serve our fellow people. However, I fear complacence. Therefore, with time, aspire to multiply the beneficiaries of Support My City by creating a larger network of funds and sponsors. The intent is to benefit as many people as possible and provide them with a helping hand when they are left isolated through hard times of life. we want them to know they are not alone and we, the people from Support My City are always there to their rescue. I look forward to also expanding the horizons my campaign furthermore by adopting other spheres of charitable work so that prospective problem is left without us being able to look after it.”, says the founder of the campaign, Dr. Agarwal.

This entire campaign has had a significant impact over the state. The kind of response of the beneficiaries has been humongous. In a world full of the corrupt and greedy, it is a blessing to humanity to be surrounded with nobility. When the globe is clouded over by grief, it is philanthropists like Dr. Agarwal and inspiring campaigns like Support My City are a beam of hope.
