Women represent 24.34% in SBI total workforce

Total 26 complaints related to Sexual Harassment reported during the year 2018-19.

NEW DELHI: State Bank of India (SBI) is India’s largest employer in the financial sector, employing skilled professionals who propel the Bank’s success. The bank employing over 2.56 lakh number of people, in which women represent 24.34% of the total work force. More than 2,600 branches are at present headed by women officers, spread across geographies and different levels of hierarchy.

The Board of Governance comprises of 14 members, of which 2 are women- a Managing Director and a Government appointed Director.

Total 26 complaints related to Sexual Harassment reported during the year 2018-19. SBI disbursed Rs. 41,055 Cr towards Employee wages & their benefits and welfare.

Bank has a zero tolerance policy on discrimination and sexual harassment. It has a system to prevent such incidents, and various grievance redressal channels to address them. During the reporting period, 26 complaints of sexual harassment were reported.

“Gender Sensitivity and Inclusiveness have always been the corner stone of your Bank’s HR policy. Moreover, women employees are spread across geographies and different levels of hierarchy. In addition to this, more than 2,600 branches are at present headed by women officers.”, bank informed in its annual report 2018-19.

Officer: Male – 85,922, Female – 21,695

Officers Associates (Clerical): Male – 68,672, Female – 36,768

Sub Staff: Male – 39,584, Female – 4,115

Rs. 5 crore has been contributed towards the Chief Minister Distress Relief Fund for the Kerala floods by the Bank’s employees.
