Mumbai: The Tata Group has successfully conducted the fourth edition of the Tata International Social Entrepreneurship Scheme (Tata ISES) here.
“Tata ISES provides an opportunity to bright global students to partake in the community work being done by the Tata companies here, exposing and sensitising them to the influence of society as a stakeholder in business and cross- cultural realities,” Tata Services Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Atul Agrawal said. “Tata ISES is a wonderful way for Cambridge students and faculty to learn about India and Tata, and vice versa.
The Cambridge community is proud to be part of Tata ISES,” Professor at Judge Business School, Cambridge, Jaideep Prabhu said. This initiative offered an experiential internship to 19 international students in the ongoing corporate sustainability projects of the various Tata companies.
Students participated from the University of Cambridge and London School of Economics, from the University of California, Berkeley and UC Davis of the US. They engaged with CSR projects of several Tata group companies like Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Teleservices, Tata Chemicals, Rallis, Tata Medical Centre and Tata Quality Management Services, he said. The programme is designed to provide grass-roots level exposure to these students in India while bringing an international perspective to the company projects.
The projects range from impact assessments of ongoing CSR projects to women empowerment, sustainable livelihoods, health education, safe drinking water, climate change program evaluation and road map for educational interventions in rural areas.
The Tata ISES 2011 edition concluded at the SP Jain Institute of Management, Mumbai, where interns shared their experiences working with the various Tata companies.
