On Independence Day, IOB supports NIVE Trust’s student transportation initiative and launches Centralized NRI Back Office
CHENNAI (India CSR): Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) marked Independence Day at its Central Office with a strong focus on social responsibility, education access and inclusive growth. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the bank extended financial support to the National Institute of Value Education (NIVE) Trust for the procurement of a school bus for economically backward students.
The initiative is expected to improve safe and reliable transportation access for students, helping them attend school regularly and pursue their education with greater ease.
Flag Hoisting and National Integration Pledge
The Independence Day programme began with an impressive parade and the hoisting of the National Flag by Ajay Kumar Srivastava, Managing Director and CEO of Indian Overseas Bank, accompanied by the National Anthem. This was followed by the National Integration Pledge administered by the MD and CEO. Executive Directors Joydeep Dutta Roy and Dhanaraj T, Chief Vigilance Officer P. Krishnan, senior executives and employees participated in the national celebration with enthusiasm.

CSR Support for Education and Accessibility
The CSR contribution to NIVE Trust reflects IOB’s emphasis on making education more accessible for children from economically weaker backgrounds. School transportation remains an important factor in ensuring regular attendance, especially for students who face distance, safety or mobility-related barriers. Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Kumar Srivastava said, “The bank remains committed to supporting meaningful CSR initiatives that promote education, accessibility and inclusive growth.” He added that IOB’s support to NIVE Trust would improve transportation access for students and contribute to a safer and more supportive learning environment.
Centralized NRI Back Office Launched
Alongside the CSR initiative, IOB launched its Centralized NRI Back Office, a dedicated facility designed to strengthen and streamline services for Non-Resident Indian customers worldwide. The Centralized NRI Back Office was formally inaugurated by Ajay Kumar Srivastava. The initiative brings key NRI-related operational activities under one centralized framework, with the objective of improving turnaround time, operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
“The Centralized NRI Back Office marks an important step towards providing faster, seamless and customer-centric banking services to the Bank’s NRI clientele,” the MD and CEO said. Through the student transportation support and its customer-service initiatives, Indian Overseas Bank reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive development, accessible education and responsible banking.
