PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry CM N. Rangasamy has asked major industrial houses in Puducherry and Karaikal regions to come forward to implement schemes under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme.
Inaugurating the fully automated retail outlets of Indian Oil Corporation in Puducherry recently, Rangasamy said that though major industries have to mandatorily spend 2 percent of their net profit for CSR activities several industries in Puducherry and Karaikal regions were not keen in implementing schemes under the initiative.
Rangasamy said that industries in Yanam region had allocated funds and taken up several schemes under the CSR scheme due to the steps taken by Yanam MLA Malladi Krishna Rao.
The management of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) should step up their CSR activities and come forward to provide infrastructural facilities in the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital in the city, he said.
U.V. Mannur, Executive Director, Tamil Nadu State Office, Indian Oil said that Puducherry City Automation covered 17 retail outlets in the city selling Euro IV fuels. Indian Oil has 52 percent market share in petrol and diesel in Puducherry which is 4.5 percent of the total sales volume of Tamil Nadu.
Mannur said that Indian Oil has so far automated 719 retail outlets in Tamil Nadu including 37 in Puducherry and Karaikal regions. IO has completed City Automation in Puducherry, Coimbatore and Tirupur and several cities including Chennai have been put on fast track.
He said that IO was the market leader in automation of retail outlets. As part of this initiative all transactions at the retail outlet are digitally recorded ensuring total transparency and enabling customers to have 100 per cent quality product.
Bills will be electronically generated at the outlets and it will display the actual quantity dispensed.
The system is also a boon to the dealers and he will get online data with regard to sales and inventories making stock management simpler. Indrajit Bose, Executive Director (corporate communications and branding) Indian Oil also spoke.
