For most small and medium enterprises in India, “HR process” often means a stack of Excel sheets, a chat group for leave requests, and a payroll cycle run on manual calculations and hope. Kolkata-based Keyline Digitech Pvt Ltd, a digital solutions company with over 23 years of experience building web, mobile, and AI products for businesses across the globe, wants to change that with EfforTrak — a homegrown HRMS, attendance, payroll, and field-force platform built for Indian MSMEs.

A Problem Every Growing Business Recognizes

India’s SME sector is often called the backbone of the economy. Yet as these businesses grow from a handful of employees to fifty or a hundred, most hit the same wall: the informal systems that worked when everyone knew everyone start to break down. Attendance gets disputed, salary calculations have errors, leave approvals get lost in chat threads, and compliance deadlines are missed — often at the cost of a labour notice, or a good employee who left because payroll was late for the third month running.

Large enterprises solved this problem decades ago with HRMS platforms, but most were priced and designed for companies with dedicated IT and HR departments — not a 40-person manufacturing unit in Howrah or a retail chain expanding across three cities. That gap is where EfforTrak is positioned.

What EfforTrak Actually Does

EfforTrak is built around a simple premise: an MSME shouldn’t need a battery of consultants and a six-figure IT budget to run its people operations properly. The platform brings together the modules a growing business actually needs, in one connected system:

Biometric and face-recognition attendance. Instead of manual registers or attendance that can be gamed, EfforTrak supports kiosk-based biometric devices and face-recognition attendance, giving owners an accurate, tamper-resistant record of who was present, when, and where.

A mobile app with geofencing attendance. For teams not tied to one office, employees can mark attendance from their phone within a defined geofenced radius — a reliable check-in system for multi-site, field, or hybrid teams without a biometric device at every location.

Payroll built for Indian compliance. Payroll in India involves gratuity rules, full-and-final settlement timelines, wage structuring under the new Labour Codes, and details that catch owners off guard. EfforTrak’s payroll engine is designed around these specifics rather than being a generic global tool retrofitted for India.

Field-force and GPS tracking. For sales teams, technicians, or delivery staff, EfforTrak offers location tracking that balances accountability with practicality, without excessive battery drain.

Leave, recruitment, and the employee lifecycle. From the moment a candidate is shortlisted to onboarding, and every leave application after, EfforTrak keeps the employee journey in one place instead of scattered across spreadsheets and emails.

Simple asset management. Laptops, phones, and tools have a way of quietly disappearing as a business grows. EfforTrak includes a straightforward module to track what’s been issued to whom.

Basic lead management. Many MSMEs run their sales pipeline out of a notebook, losing leads in the process. EfforTrak’s built-in lead management lets smaller sales teams capture, assign, and follow up on leads, adding a first layer of structure to revenue operations alongside HR.

Unit cost analysis. Beyond attendance and payroll, EfforTrak breaks down the overhead cost of people by project and task type, letting owners see what each project actually costs to staff — a level of visibility most MSMEs currently have no easy way to track.

Why It Matters for the “Process” Conversation

Keyline Digitech’s pitch for EfforTrak isn’t just “software that tracks attendance.” It’s framed around a bigger idea: process as a growth enabler. A business that can trust its attendance data, calculate payroll correctly the first time, and onboard employees with a defined workflow is one that can expand into a new city, take on a larger client, or pass a due-diligence check during fundraising without scrambling to reconstruct records — increasingly important as more MSMEs formalize operations to qualify for institutional credit or meet vendor-compliance audits from larger corporate clients. A structured HRMS isn’t a luxury in that context; it’s closer to infrastructure.

Built by a Team That Understands the Indian MSME Context

Keyline Digitech is not a new entrant experimenting with SaaS. The company has spent over 14 years developing web, mobile, and AI-driven solutions for clients across the globe, giving it a vantage point on how Indian businesses actually operate — including the ones that don’t fit templates built for Silicon Valley startups or multinational enterprises. That shows up in EfforTrak’s design choices: a mobile-first attendance experience, affordable, locally serviceable biometric devices, and a payroll engine built around Indian labour law rather than adapted from a Western product. The company has also brought in domain expertise beyond its own engineering team, working with HR compliance specialists to ensure the payroll and labour-law logic reflects real regulatory requirements — an important distinction in a country where compliance rules vary by state and change with each Labour Code rollout.

What’s Next

EfforTrak continues to evolve as a platform rather than a fixed product, with new modules — including a dedicated recruitment workflow and desktop productivity monitoring — in active development. The roadmap follows a phased approach: start with a manageable core a small business can adopt without friction, then add capability as it grows.

For India’s MSME sector, central to the country’s employment and growth story, tools like EfforTrak represent a quieter but important trend: enterprise-grade discipline in HR and operations, built and priced for businesses previously locked out of it.

EfforTrak is a product of Keyline Digitech Pvt Ltd, a digital solutions company headquartered in Kolkata, serving clients across the globe.
