MUMBAI: Gender Equality has been recognised as an important driver for overall development of human societies. In 2010 UN Women, in collaboration with Global Compact Network, developed the seven Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) to provide guidance for businesses on how to empower women in the workplace, marketplace and community.

CARE India, UN Women, and Global Compact Network India are leading an initiative to promote the adoption of women’s empowerment principles amongst companies in India. In our effort to engage with Businesses in India on the issue we are organizing a Consultation on:

“Women’s Empowerment Principles– Gender Equity Means Business”
in Mumbai on November 27, 2013

The consultation would be an opportunity for a select group of corporate thought leaders and practitioners to come together under a common platform to explore in-depth issues around women in business. It will aim to look at current best practices and identify challenges as well as provide possible solutions focusing on women within companies. The consultation will also encompass women’s role in supply chain and communities.

This consultation is open for corporate participants by invitation only. For registration please write to weps@careindia.org.
