Company diverts KG-D6 natural gas to priority sectors, aligns operations with government guidelines amid global energy volatility.
MUMBAI (India CSR): At a time when global energy markets are witnessing heightened volatility, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has announced a series of proactive measures to safeguard India’s energy security. The company is ramping up Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) production at its Jamnagar refining and petrochemicals complex while also prioritizing the allocation of natural gas from the KG-D6 Basin to critical sectors, in line with Government of India guidelines.
Maximizing LPG Production at Jamnagar
Reliance Industries said it is taking steps to maximize LPG production from its refining and petrochemicals complexes at Jamnagar in Gujarat, widely regarded as the world’s largest integrated refining hub. The move is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted access to cooking fuel for millions of Indian households.
Company officials stated that operational teams are working around the clock to optimize refinery processes and increase LPG output. This effort is intended to maintain stable and reliable supplies of the essential fuel to the domestic market during a period of global uncertainty in energy markets.
Supporting Domestic Energy Needs
LPG remains a crucial household fuel across India, especially under government programs aimed at expanding clean cooking access. By increasing domestic production, Reliance aims to reduce potential supply disruptions and support national energy stability.
The company emphasized that its refining infrastructure and technical teams are being fully leveraged to enhance production efficiency and ensure that LPG supply chains remain uninterrupted.
KG-D6 Gas to Be Diverted to Priority Sectors
Alongside boosting LPG production, Reliance will divert natural gas produced from the KG-D6 Basin to priority sectors. The company said this step aligns with national energy priorities and government allocation guidelines.
The KG-D6 Basin, located in the Krishna-Godavari offshore region, is one of India’s most important sources of domestically produced natural gas. Redirecting supplies from this basin to priority sectors is expected to help stabilize energy availability for industries and essential services.
Commitment to Government Guidelines
Reliance reaffirmed that all operational decisions are being made in close coordination with the Government of India and in compliance with national guidelines related to energy allocation and distribution.
The company said it will continue working closely with government authorities to ensure that energy supplies reach the sectors and communities that need them most.
Standing with the Nation
Reliance Industries highlighted that ensuring India’s energy security and the well-being of millions of Indian families remains its top priority.
The company reiterated its commitment to supporting the country during periods of global uncertainty by strengthening domestic fuel production and maintaining reliable supply systems.
“As always, Reliance will stand firmly with the nation in its time of need,” the company said, adding that it will continue doing everything possible to ensure stable access to essential fuels and support India’s energy security.
