TIRUCHIRAPPALLI, TAMIL NADU (India CSR®): Omega Forum for Social Impact (OFSI), the CSR arm of Omega Healthcare, continues to advance the economic independence of new generation graduates through community-focused skilling initiatives. A recent milestone was the 6th Graduation Ceremony and Skill Expo organized by Omega Centre of Hope, in collaboration with Hope Foundation. The event was celebrated with 439 young people across six batches at Hope Hall, Edamalaipatti Pudur, Tiruchirappalli.
Omega Centre of Hope was established in 2022 under Project 10K, along with Hope Foundation, as part of OFSI’s efforts to create access to skills and livelihood opportunities for young people from underserved communities. The 6th Graduation Ceremony brought together the graduates, their families, trainers and community partners to recognize the completion of their training. The Skill Expo also gave the graduates an opportunity to demonstrate their technical, communication and workplace skills.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Guruvayurappan P.V., Executive Vice President – Human Resources, Omega Healthcare, and Board Director, OFSI, said: “Having spent my career working with people, I believe potential is everywhere, but opportunity must reach people where they are. The real value of skilling lies in seeing that potential translate into jobs, income and greater independence.”
Based in Tiruchirappalli, Omega Centre of Hope focuses on equipping young people, particularly first-generation earners and those from underserved communities, with skills aligned to employment opportunities across retail, hospitality, healthcare services, IT and IT-enabled services. The Centre has evolved from its initial four courses in Tally, DTP, Computer Applications and Data Entry to an eight-trade training portfolio. Alongside technical training, participants receive support in spoken English, soft skills, workplace readiness and career preparation to help them transition more effectively into employment.
The programs conducted by Omega Centre of Hope also have an inclusion focus, reaching communities that can face barriers to education and formal employment, including school dropouts, LGBTQ+ individuals and people living with HIV.
The collaboration between OFSI and Hope Foundation is supported by an ecosystem of partners, including the District Employment Office, Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation and National Skill Development Corporation, helping strengthen the connection between training and employment opportunities.
As Omega Forum for Social Impact continues to invest in skilling and community development, its initiatives highlight the role of industry-led partnerships in creating access to learning, strengthening employability, and supporting young people as they work towards more sustainable livelihoods.
