MUMBAI/NEW DELHI: The Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), has taken a significant step towards supporting talented youth by awarding INR 3.38 crore in scholarships under the Hyundai Hope Scholarship Program. Launched in August 2024, this initiative has empowered 783 bright students from underprivileged backgrounds, including 440 competitive exam aspirants and 343 student innovators from IITs across the country.

This program reflects Hyundai’s dedication to education, social progress, and nurturing future leaders who will contribute positively to India’s growth story.

Bridging Educational Gaps for a Brighter Future

The Hyundai Hope Scholarship Program was designed to level the playing field for students with limited resources but immense potential. This year, the program reached over 44,000 students across 23 states in India, carefully reviewing applications to select the most deserving recipients.

The scholarship focuses on two key groups:

  1. Competitive Exam Aspirants – 440 students preparing for the Union and State Civil Services exams and the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) were awarded scholarships to ease their financial burden.
  2. IIT Innovators – 343 students from 100 different teams across various IIT campuses received support for their innovative projects aimed at creating social and environmental impact.

This initiative is a testament to Hyundai’s commitment to fostering an educated and self-reliant future generation.

Recognizing the Changemakers of Tomorrow

The scholarships were awarded during a special ceremony attended by Kiren Rijiju, Honorable Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs, Government of India. The event was also graced by senior leaders from Hyundai, including Gopalakrishnan Chathapuram Sivaramakrishnan, Trustee – HMIF, Jeongick Lee, Function Head – Corporate Affairs, and Puneet Anand, Vertical Head – Corporate Communication & Social, HMIL.

During the ceremony, Kiren Rijiju commended the initiative:

“The Hyundai Hope Scholarship Program is a commendable initiative that goes beyond financial aid to nurture ambition, enrich lives, and empower young changemakers. Education and technological advancements are crucial for India’s growth, and initiatives like this build a skilled and self-reliant nation.”

Hyundai’s Vision: Progress for Humanity

Aligned with Hyundai’s global vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’, the Hyundai Hope Scholarship Program aims to create a ripple effect of positive change.

Gopalakrishnan Chathapuram Sivaramakrishnan, Trustee – HMIF, emphasized:

“The Hyundai Hope Scholarship Program is about nurturing future policymakers, innovators, and nation-builders. It supports underprivileged yet meritorious students, turning their dreams into reality and shaping a brighter future for the nation. Our mission is to empower the next generation of leaders who will contribute to India’s social and economic progress.”

Through this program, Hyundai is helping students from diverse backgrounds gain the resources, knowledge, and support they need to achieve their goals.

Impact Beyond Financial Support

The Hyundai Hope Scholarship Program extends its impact beyond financial aid by:

  • Providing mentorship opportunities for students preparing for competitive exams.
  • Facilitating industry exposure for IIT innovators to enhance their project outcomes.
  • Creating a network of support to help students navigate their educational journeys.

Implemented by BharatCares on behalf of HMIF, the program ensures that recipients receive comprehensive support for their academic and professional growth.

A Legacy of Social Impact

As the Hyundai Hope Scholarship Program continues to grow, it stands as a beacon of hope for talented youth across India. By investing in education and innovation, Hyundai is paving the way for a more inclusive and progressive society.
