In a bold and ambitious move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its vision to transform Maharashtra into a $1 trillion economy by 2028. This promise was made as part of the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, which are set to take place on November 20, 20242.

Key Highlights of the Manifesto

The BJP’s manifesto, released by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Mumbai, outlines several key initiatives aimed at achieving this economic milestone. The manifesto, titled “Sankalp Patra,” reflects the aspirations of the people of Maharashtra and promises comprehensive development across various sectors2.

  1. Economic Growth and Job Creation: The BJP has pledged to create 25 lakh jobs in the state, focusing on sectors such as fintech, artificial intelligence (AI), and aerospace. The party aims to make Maharashtra the capital of fintech and AI, with cities like Nagpur, Pune, and Nashik being developed as aerospace hubs4.
  2. Support for Women and Farmers: The manifesto promises to increase the monthly assistance under the Ladki Bahin scheme from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,100. Additionally, the party has committed to providing a loan waiver of up to Rs 15,000 for farmers and ensuring food security through the Akshay Anna Yojana5.
  3. Infrastructure Development: The BJP plans to invest in infrastructure projects, including new roads in over 45,000 villages and a 30% reduction in power bills with a focus on renewable energy. The party also aims to establish industrial clusters for every 500 self-help groups (SHGs) with a revolving fund of Rs 1,000 crore5.
  4. Education and Entrepreneurship: The manifesto includes provisions for the reimbursement of tuition and examination fees for students from marginalized sections, including Other Backward Classes (OBC), Special Backward Classes (SBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and Nomadic Tribes (NT). The BJP also promises to provide Rs 10,000 stipends to 10 lakh students across Maharashtra5.
  5. Healthcare and Social Welfare: The BJP has proposed the introduction of the Swami Vivekananda Youth Health Card for annual health check-ups of youth and a policy for senior citizens with Aadhaar-enabled services. The party also plans to establish the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Akanksha Kendra in every district to create 10 lakh new entrepreneurs4.

A Vision for the Future

Speaking at the manifesto launch, Amit Shah emphasized that the BJP’s promises are not just empty words but a reflection of the party’s commitment to the people of Maharashtra. He highlighted the party’s track record of fulfilling its promises and urged voters to support the BJP, Shiv Sena, and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) alliance in the upcoming elections2.

The BJP’s vision for Maharashtra is ambitious, aiming to propel the state into a new era of economic prosperity and development. With a focus on job creation, support for women and farmers, infrastructure development, education, and healthcare, the party’s manifesto promises a comprehensive roadmap for the state’s growth over the next four years5.
