The beauty of Himalayan treks is unbeatable. They are not just stunning, but the snowy peaks always have a tale to tell. But the problem is that everyone who loves trekking heads to the popular Himalayan treks like the Kheerganga trek, the Tarsar Marsar trek, or the Valley of Flowers. This makes the trek crowded, as everyone is in the Himalayan valley trying to get a peak of the majestic peaks. Often, these treks become unsafe due to landslides or extreme rains, and the chances of this happening are increasing every day due to environmental issues.

Instead of heading for these crowded treks, head to Mumbai! Mumbai, Maharashtra, is home to beautiful treks, and BanBanjara conducts these treks in a beautiful manner. This offers you a serene escape from a busy life. The treks will expose you to hidden trails like historic forts, picturesque views, and more without you having to worry about extreme crowds or safety. Are you ready to head to the beautiful treks near Mumbai? Then, read the list below.

Alternates of the best Himalayan treks in or near Mumbai

Rajmachi Trek

Looking for a moderately easy trek like the Kedarkantha trek? Well, if the snowy trek is not available, head to the Rajmachi trek in Lonavala. The Rajmachi Fort is the best day trek, requiring just your weekend, unlike most Himalayan treks. The perfect monsoon trek, BanBanjara organized it, taking you to the summit of the fort, from where the Kataldhar waterfalls are visible.

  • Difficulty level: Easy

Andharban Trek

A refreshing change from Himalayan treks, Andharban is a trek that you can do at night too. Its forest trails and rich biodiversity take the trekker through captivating forest trails and rich biodiversity. The literal translation of Andharban is ‘dark forest’; the trek offers stunning views of the valley, devkund waterfalls, and more. It is a descending trek with the end destination of Bhira Dam. This unique trek is nature’s delight and no less than any Himalayan trek. Book this trek with BanBanjara for a monsoon delight today!

Kalu waterfall

Do you love waterfalls and are you heading to the Hampta Pass trek? Well, it will be crowded, and there are chances of heavy rainfall closing the trek due to safety concerns. Worry not! Kalu waterfall trek, organized by BanBanjara, is the ideal replacement. The trek exposes you to lush green mountains in the Malshej Ghat, where you come across multiple water waterfalls and streams, unlike Hampta Pass.

  • Difficulty level: Easy

Matheran

Matheran, or one-tree-hill trek, starts from Ambewadi and is a great alternative to Himalayan treks like the Beas Kund Trek. The trail here is amongst thick forests, exposing you to a mass of rocks and boulders. Thus, it is also known as the Shivaji ladder or steps. In Matheran, the structures are British-style architecture, and the trek is termed paradise by the locals.

  • Difficulty level: Easy

Harihar Trek

The Harihar Trek, one of the best treks near Mumbai, is a great alternative to the Kedarkantha Trek. Book this trek with BanBanjara to trek towards the Harihar Fort. As you head to the summit, you get to enjoy the view of the best peaks, like Anjaneri Fort, Utwad Fort, and Brahmagiri Fort, amongst others.

  • Difficulty level: moderate

Harishchandragad

A safe alternative to Dayara Bugyal Trek, the Harishchandragad Trek is a challenging Western Ghat trek offering adventures to the trekkers. Without the overcrowding you experience in the Himalayan treks, you can enjoy this trek known for its panoramic views along with challenging climbs. The trek has many routes, and each one offers multiple surprises to keep you engaged.

  • Difficulty level: Challenging

Korigad

The trekkers head to the Goechala trek due to the view it provides of not one but 14 peaks. But it does get a lot of crowds due to the spectacular views it provides. Well, there is a beautiful alternative in Korigad, near Mumbai. It is 20 km south of Lonavala, Pune.

Naneghat

An alternative to the Hampta Pass trek is the Naneghat trek, known for its reverse waterfall trek. It is an easy trek and is ideal for solo travelers as well. A monsoon trek package for Naneghat by BanBanjara offers stunning views of the mountains and valleys. The trail is even more stunning, with dense forests, streams, and flowers keeping you company.

  • Difficulty level: easy to moderate

Prabalgad

A picturesque trek that one can do instead of the Phulara Ridge Trek, as it boasts almost the same scenic views of the skyline of Mumbai and surrounding hills. Since the trek’s difficulty level is not much, even beginners can trek there. As you drive on the Mumbai-Pune motorway, you can see Prabalgad. For example, on the east side is the Ulhas River, and on the west is the Gadi River. From here, you can easily see the sunset. It is a trek that you can do in all seasons; however, the monsoon Prabalgad trek package is from BanBanjara. During the monsoon season, the waterfalls and misty weather make the trek through the dense jungle a joy ride.

  • Difficulty level: easy to moderate

Visapur

The Visapur trek is another great and scenic trek alternative for any Himalayan trek. Do not let the crowded trek of the Himalayas ruin your trekking adventure by booking the Visapur trek from BanBanjara. The trail offers beautiful views of the Western Ghats, a serene alternative to any high-altitude trek. In the monsoon season, the trek is mesmerizing, especially the waterfall tail. The view from the summit of the plateau is even more beautiful. It is close to both Mumbai and Pune, so it is a perfect weekend activity.

  • Difficulty level: moderate

Torna

Trek the highest hill fort in Pune district. The Torna Fort Trail offers dense forests with impressive views of the Sahyadri range. If Stok Kangri Trek, Ladakh, is on your mind but you are unable to go due to bad weather, then head to Torna Fort Trek. Trekking to the Torna fort is a blend of nature and history, as the fort tells the tales of the fight between Marathas and Mughals. The top of the trek exposes you to many temples, like water cisterns and two magnificent Machis, Budhla Machi and Zunjar Machi.

  • Difficulty level: moderate to difficult

Adrai

A jungle trek that is also less known is the Adrai Trek, offering pristine and rugged adventure. The trail is rocky and dense forest, and the remote location of the Adrai trek will offer you the same, if not less, peace and serenity you experience from the Himalayan trek. The Adrai Trek takes you through an unspoiled jungle, letting you discover caverns, valleys, waterfalls, and more. It is a simple one-day trek, but the memories are forever. BanBanjara offers many Adrai jungle trek packages.

  • Difficult level: easy to moderate.

Devkund Waterfall Trek

A hidden trek near Mumbai, an alternative to the Nag Tibba trek in the Himalaya, Devkund waterfalls is a beautiful trek. It is situated in the Sahyadri mountain range, near Tamhini town, Pune. The falls, which get livelier in the monsoon season, are known for their lush greenery, pristine surroundings, and serene pool, where visitors can go for a swim. For all nature and adventure lovers, a trek here is the best. Since it is a moderate trek, families and kids can enjoy the falls, especially with BanBanjara’s guided trek. If you are unfamiliar with the area, head with experts by booking the trek with the best travel agency in India.

  • Difficult level: easy to moderate

Kataldhar

Another scenic trek in the Mumbai region is the Kataldhar trek, where you hike towards the Sahyadri mountain range. It is known for its lush greenery, views, and especially the Kataldhar waterfalls. The trail takes you through multiple crossing streams, dense vegetation, and rocky paths. The summit is the waterfall, which is the best during the monsoon season. If you are an adventure lover, you will also find the option of water rafting here.

  • Difficult level: moderate

Conclusion

To conclude, Mumbai has the most beautiful alternative treks of all the Himalayan treks. These treks are not overcrowded and not that challenging, so everyone can enjoy them. The best part about Mumbai treks organized by BanBanjara is that they provide a perfect mix of serenity and adventure, immersing you in nature’s beauty while taking you to hidden trails and beauty near Mumbai for a memorable experience.
