Healthcare Focus

Healthcare received a major share of the CSR spending during FY26. Thejo Engineering provided Rs 15 lakh to Tamilnadu Kidney Research Foundation, commonly known as TANKER Foundation, for healthcare support. The organisation works with patients requiring dialysis and kidney-related treatment support.

The company also gave Rs 10 lakh to The Liberation Social and Charitable Society in Thodupuzha for preventive healthcare initiatives. Dean Foundation and Hope Foundation received Rs 5 lakh each. Pain & Palliative Care Society in Thrissur also received Rs 5 lakh for healthcare and palliative care-related support.

The annual report further states that All India Movement for Seva, New Delhi, received Rs 5 lakh for healthcare outreach. These healthcare-linked CSR allocations show the company’s focus on medical assistance, preventive care and support for people facing long-term illness or limited healthcare access.

Hunger Relief

Thejo Engineering also supported hunger and malnutrition relief initiatives during the year. The company contributed Rs 15 lakh to The Akshaya Patra Foundation, which is known for school meal and nutrition-linked programmes.

Sri Brahmrishi Ashram in Chennai received Rs 1 lakh for hunger and malnutrition eradication. These allocations were part of the company’s CSR work under areas permitted in Schedule VII of the Companies Act, including eradicating hunger, poverty and malnutrition.

Education Support

Education was another key area in the company’s CSR portfolio. Thejo Engineering spent Rs 9.55 lakh directly on renovation of a school in Chennai. The project also included notebooks and stationery support for students.

The company provided Rs 7.50 lakh to Sugan Thomas Foundation in Chennai for education-related work. United Way of Chennai received Rs 5 lakh for education initiatives. Rotary Club of Madras East Trust received Rs 2 lakh for education support.

The education-linked projects were aimed at improving learning conditions and supporting access to basic educational resources. The report does not provide detailed beneficiary numbers for each education project, but it identifies education as one of the company’s main CSR focus areas.

Rural Sports

Thejo Engineering spent Rs 3.50 lakh through Victory Sports Foundation in Chennai for the promotion of rural sports and support for athletes. The project was linked to nationally recognised sports, including support for Paralympic and Olympic-related sporting aspirations.

The support reflects the use of CSR funds for sports promotion, which is included under Schedule VII of the Companies Act. The annual report positions the sports intervention as part of wider community development.

National Relief

The company also contributed Rs 45,000 to the PM CARES Fund. The contribution was made under national relief and emergency support provisions covered under the CSR framework.

Although the amount was smaller compared to other CSR allocations, the contribution formed part of the company’s total CSR expenditure for FY 2025-26.

CSR Governance

The CSR Committee of Thejo Engineering was chaired by Sridhar Ganesh, Independent Director. The committee also included Thomas John, Vice Chairman; V.A. George, Executive Chairman; and Srinivas Acharya, Independent Director.

The annual report states that the committee met twice during FY 2025-26, on May 28, 2025, and February 18, 2026. The committee’s role included formulating the CSR annual action plan, reviewing project progress and monitoring implementation.

The Board approved the CSR Annual Action Plan for FY 2026-27 on May 27, 2026. The report indicates that future CSR work will continue to focus on healthcare, education and environmental sustainability around its operating locations, including Irulipattu and Athipedu village units.

Sustainability Link

Apart from statutory CSR spending, the annual report also highlights sustainability-linked operational measures. Thejo Engineering reported renewable energy consumption of 3,130,024 megajoules in FY 2025-26, compared with 35,453 megajoules in the previous year.

The company also reported the use of rooftop solar panels at its manufacturing facilities. It operates a sewage treatment plant to maintain zero liquid discharge and recycled 9,802 kilolitres of water during the year. The recycled water was reused for gardening and greenbelt development at its Chennai units.

These sustainability measures are part of the company’s broader ESG and environmental management approach, though not all of them are classified as CSR expenditure.

Staff Welfare

The annual report states that Thejo Engineering had 1,761 permanent employees. The company spent 3.40% of its total revenue on staff welfare expenses in FY 2025-26, compared with 3.20% in the previous year.

The report also highlights safety-related measures, including training through the company’s Excellence Centre. The Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate was reported as 0.00 for both employees and workers during the year. The report states that the workforce is covered by accident insurance and provident fund benefits.

These employee-related disclosures form part of the company’s broader sustainability and human capital reporting.
