Republic Day 2024: India will celebrate its 75th Republic Day on January 26, 2024, with a grand parade in New Delhi. The parade will showcase the country’s cultural and military diversity, as well as its achievements and aspirations. French President Emmanuel Macron will be the chief guest of the event, which will also mark the 75th anniversary of India-France diplomatic relations.

How to watch the parade on TV

The Republic Day parade will be telecast live on Doordarshan TV channel from 9:30 am IST on January 26, 2024. You can watch the parade from the comfort of your home and witness the spectacular display of India’s pride and glory.

How to watch the parade online

If you prefer a digital experience, you can also watch the parade live on various online platforms. You can head to the official YouTube channels of Doordarshan or All India Radio, which will also provide live sign language interpretation of the commentary. You can also catch the live stream on the Press Bureau of India (PBI) website¹².

Alternatively, you can follow the live updates, photos, and videos of the parade on various news portals and digital media outlets, such as India Today³, Live Mint⁴, and The Indian Express. What to expect from the parade

The Republic Day parade will feature a host of attractions, such as:

  • An all-women tri-services contingent, comprising women troops from the Army’s military police and members from the other two services. This will be a historic moment for the Republic Day parade, as it will highlight the role of women in the defence forces.
  • A tableau of the newly formed Union Territory of Ladakh, showcasing its culture, heritage, and biodiversity.
  • A tableau of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), depicting its achievements in space exploration, such as the Chandrayaan-2 mission and the Gaganyaan project.
  • A tableau of the Ministry of Culture, celebrating the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the freedom fighter and leader of the Indian National Army.
  • A tableau of the Ministry of Education, highlighting the new National Education Policy 2020, which aims to transform the education system in India.
  • A tableau of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, showcasing the Jal Jeevan Mission, which aims to provide piped water supply to every rural household by 2024.
  • A tableau of the Ministry of AYUSH, promoting the traditional systems of medicine, such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy.
  • A tableau of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, featuring the Digital India initiative, which aims to empower citizens with access to digital services and infrastructure.
  • A tableau of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, highlighting the COVID-19 vaccination drive, which is the world’s largest immunisation campaign.
  • A tableau of the Ministry of Railways, depicting the bullet train project, which will connect Mumbai and Ahmedabad with high-speed rail.
  • A tableau of the Ministry of Tourism, showcasing the Incredible India campaign, which promotes the country’s diverse and rich tourism potential.

  • A tableau of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), showcasing the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, which aims to make India self-reliant and resilient in various sectors, such as manufacturing, services, and innovation.
  • A tableau of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, showcasing the Van Dhan Yojana, which aims to empower the tribal communities by providing them livelihood opportunities through value addition of forest produce.
  • A tableau of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, showcasing the Khelo India programme, which aims to promote sports and fitness among the youth and create a sporting culture in India.
  • A tableau of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, showcasing the Skill India Mission, which aims to provide skill training and employment opportunities to the youth and enhance their employability and productivity.

The parade will also feature various cultural performances, such as folk dances, martial arts, and patriotic songs, by school children and artists from different states and regions of India. The parade will conclude with a flypast by the Indian Air Force, displaying its aerial prowess and acrobatic skills.
