Claims are to be Settled on the Basis of Only Three Basic Documents, Dedicated 24X7 Helpline to Assist with Claim-Related Inquiries

MUMBAI (India CSR): Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) on June 5 instructed insurers to ease and expedite claims settlement for victims of the Odisha train accident. The accident took place on June 2, 2023, killing over 275 people and injuring over 1000 others.

IRDAI has asked insurers to dispense with some of the requirements or rely on alternate documents for claims settlement. The regulator has also asked insurers to work with the authorities to ensure that the claims are processed as quickly as possible.

The move is aimed at providing financial assistance to the families of the victims as soon as possible.

ICICI Prudential Life Insurance announces the relaxation of the claim settlement process for families impacted by the Odisha train accident, demonstrating solidarity with those affected. The company aims to expedite the claim settlement to provide much-needed financial relief in the aftermath of this tragedy.

Simplified Documentation for Claims Settlement

In an effort to streamline the claims settlement process, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance will process death and health claims, including those covered under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), based on just three basic documents.

Required Documents for Claims Settlement:

  1. Bank account details
  2. Death certificate from municipal authorities. Alternatively, a list of deceased passengers issued by hospitals, government authorities, or the police can be submitted if the death certificate is unavailable.
  3. Copy of valid address proof of the nominee

Dedicated 24X7 Helpline for Claim Assistance

To provide comprehensive support for claim-related inquiries, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance has established a dedicated 24X7 helpline accessible through the number 1-860-266-7766. This helpline is equipped to handle all queries pertaining to claims, and nominees can rely on it to seek clarification and guidance.

Amish Banker, Senior Executive Vice President – Customer Service & Operations at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, expressed condolences for the lives lost in the tragic train crash in Odisha. He emphasized the company’s commitment to being supportive and sensitive to the needs of their customers during this difficult time.
