BANGALORE (India CSR): AUMOVIO India, the Indian unit of the German technology and electronics company AUMOVIO, has enabled 2,700 women to gain industry-relevant skills and access employment opportunities in the manufacturing sector through its long-term ‘Women for Manufacturing’ initiative.
Implemented annually since FY 2021, the initiative is designed to create structured pathways for women to move from training and certification to on-the-job exposure and formal employment. Over the last five years, the program has supported women across key manufacturing hubs in Karnataka, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Gujarat.
Creating pathways into manufacturing
The ‘Women for Manufacturing’ initiative reflects AUMOVIO’s focus on building an inclusive, future-ready manufacturing ecosystem while contributing to women’s long-term economic independence. By combining technical skilling, employability training, certification, and placement support, the initiative has helped women access roles in areas such as CNC machine operations, assembly line operations, and other manufacturing-linked functions.

A long-term commitment to inclusive growth
The initiative has expanded steadily over five phases. During phase 1, 200 women were trained, followed by 690 women in phase 2, 1,200 women in phase 3, and 610 women in phase 4. Phase 5 is currently underway and has already reached nearly 1,000 women. This continued scale-up reflects the relevance of the program and the growing need for employment-linked skilling models that support women in entering and sustaining careers in manufacturing.
Beyond placements, the program has contributed to wider socio-economic outcomes by enabling first-time employment for many women, supporting stable income generation, and strengthening confidence, mobility, and household contribution. The initiative also supports the larger industry need for a diverse and skilled talent pipeline as India’s manufacturing sector continues to expand.
Industry-aligned skilling with measurable outcomes
The program has been implemented with support from industry partners who facilitate placement and employment opportunities, while third-party assessment and certification have helped to ensure independent evaluation and industry relevance. This collaborative approach has strengthened the credibility, scalability, and long-term impact of the initiative.
Speaking about the initiative, Prashanth Doreswamy, President and CEO, AUMOVIO India, said,
“Manufacturing is central to India’s growth story, and building a more inclusive workforce is essential to making that growth sustainable. Through the ‘Women for Manufacturing’ initiative, our aim has been to create access, confidence, and employability for women in roles that have traditionally seen lower female participation. The outcomes achieved over the last five years reflect the potential of women candidates and the impact of industry-aligned skilling, strong partnerships, and sustained commitment towards enabling women to get prepared for roles in the manufacturing industry.”
Aparna Singh, Director – Programs & Operations, Centum Foundation, said,
“At Centum Foundation, we are committed to enabling women to participate in economic activities through employment-linked, industry-relevant skilling initiatives. Our partnership with AUMOVIO has empowered more than 2,700 women to successfully transition into the workforce, fostering not only conomic independence but also contributing to greater gender diversity within manufacturing ecosystems.”
Building the future of manufacturing with women
As AUMOVIO India and Centum Foundation continue to build on the ‘Women for Manufacturing’ initiative, the focus remains on creating meaningful access for women in industrial roles, supporting their career journeys, and contributing to a more inclusive manufacturing workforce.
The initiative demonstrates how sustained collaboration between industry, implementation partners, assessment agencies, and employers can help create long-term employment pathways for women and strengthen India’s manufacturing talent ecosystem.
