The initiative taken by Collector Rajahrshi Shah is a praiseworthy measure towards a constructive and cooperative resolution.

  • The lack of information on CSR fund spending and the need to consult the administration for prioritization are critical issues that require attention.
  • Industrialists must consider Shah’s suggestion of spending 40% of CSR funds at the local level, as it would benefit the people at large.

MEDAK (India CSR Correspondent): Medak district Collector Rajahrshi Shah has taken an innovative approach to encourage industrialists to invest in the welfare of the community. During a recent meeting, he emphasized the importance of efficient spending of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. He highlighted that the government was already providing ample funds for flagship programs such as Telangana Ku Haritha Haram (TKHH) and Mana Ooru Mana Badi.

Shah’s approach was not just focused on urging industrialists to donate their funds but also on collaborating with the district administration to ensure the efficient utilization of resources. He suggested that the industrialists must consult with the district administration to prioritize their investments, which would enhance the impact of their CSR funds.

This approach by Collector Rajahrshi Shah is a commendable step towards a creative and collaborative solution. It is a win-win for both industrialists and the community, as the industrialists can align their CSR investments with the community’s needs while also ensuring that their contributions are utilized effectively. This would undoubtedly lead to long-term sustainable development and growth for the community, and ultimately benefit everyone involved.

Collector Rajahrshi Shah has called upon industrialists to donate two per cent of their profits to the district administration for efficient spending. During a meeting with industrialists and officials in Collectorate on Friday, Shah highlighted that most of the industrialists were not providing information on CSR fund spending.

Lack of Information on CSR fund spending

Shah pointed out that some industrialists were spending on non-priority works without consulting the district administration. He stressed the importance of consulting the administration for efficient spending of CSR funds. The government is already providing enough funds for Telangana Ku Haritha Haram (TKHH), Mana Ooru Mana Badi, and other flagship programmes, he said.

Consult the Administration for Efficient Spending

According to Shah, industrialists must consult with the administration for efficient spending of CSR funds. He suggested that industrialists spend 40% of CSR funds at the local level, while the remaining 60% could be used for important works in any part of the district. Shah believes that such spending would benefit the people at large.

Presence of Additional Collectors

The meeting was attended by Additional Collectors Prathima Singh, B Ramesha, and other officials. They discussed the need for industrialists to prioritize works in consultation with the district administration.

Located in the northern region of the Indian state of Telangana, Medak district was named Gulshanabad by the QutubShahis due to its abundant lush greenery. Medak serves as the district headquarters and shares boundaries with Sangareddy, Kamareddy, Siddipet, and Medchal districts. The district spans over 2,740.89 square kilometers and had a population of 7,67,428 as per the 2011 Census of India.
