New Delhi: Marriott International has announced the appointment of a new Director, Government Affairs and CSR, India. The role will be responsible for working closely with the company’s Vice President, South Asia and Vice President Public Affairs India and Greater China to develop a comprehensive government relations and corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy.
The Director will be responsible for creating a strategy that supports the government, industry, and community, and for positioning Marriott International as a leader in government relations and CSR activities. They will be responsible for creating awareness of the company’s efforts with key government stakeholders at the state and federal levels, both directly and through the strategic deployment of key Marriott International executives.
The Director will be responsible for evaluating current government and CSR efforts, organizing new, creative, and efficient elements, or devising completely new activities that better serve the public, community, government relations, and Marriott International. The role requires high standards of integrity and business ethics.
The responsibilities of the Director will include creating and implementing long-term government relations strategy aligned with the business and operational needs of Marriott International, identifying and profiling key government stakeholders at all levels of Indian government, evaluating and analyzing government stakeholder perceptions of relevance to Marriott International and developing key messages to communicate and influence, and creating and implementing long-term CSR strategy aligned with the Marriott International corporate culture and the need to build corporate image in the market.
The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS in International Relations, Public Affairs, Public Policy, Law, or Journalism, with 10+ years of related experience. They will have leadership, management, and partnering experience, demonstrated experience in strategy development, implementation, and evaluation, professional experience in government relations, regulatory affairs, and/or public affairs for a multinational company, NGO or government in India, detailed knowledge of Indian government structure, functions, and legislative processes at federal, state and local levels, understanding of issues affecting multinational businesses in India, and a proven strong, creative problem-solving and conflict management skills.
