Gurugram (India CSR): Mosaic India and the S M Sehgal Foundation organised The Mosaic Company Foundation annual awards honoring outstanding research in plant nutrition on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, in Gurugram. The Mosaic Company is one of the world’s leading producers and marketers of concentrated phosphate and potash crop nutrients. With this vision in mind, the Sehgal Foundation strengthens community-led development initiatives to achieve positive social, economic, and environmental change across rural India.
Mosaic Company Foundation Awards for Plant Nutrition Research
In its sixth year, the Best Doctoral Research award is presented by The Mosaic Company Foundation to individuals who demonstrate truly exceptional ability and originality of thought for contributions to the field of plant nutrition.
Young Scientist Award, which recognizes outstanding research, innovation, and outreach in the area of plant nutrition. Additionally, the Young Scientist Award builds linkages within the scientific community associated with the promotion of balanced use of plant nutrients.
The awards recognise thought leaders in the Indian scientific community who champion the use of potash, sulfur and zinc in promoting balanced crop nutrition. Honorees receive a certificate, gold medal and blazer with a monetary award.
Agriculture Scientists
This year the award ceremony honored Dr. Debarup Das, Dr. Nand Kishor Thombre, and Dr. Bhagyashri Nandkarni in the Best Doctoral Thesis category. In the Young Scientists category, Dr M.C. Meena and Dr. Mohammad Shahid were recognized.
The ceremony was attended by the invited members in the scientific agricultural community such as Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Indian Institute of Soil Science, National Research Centres, State Agricultural Universities, Fertilizer Association of India, International Zinc Association, IPNI, CIMMYT, government officials and other national and international institute’s representatives.
Dr. H. Pathak Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Education (DARE) & Director General, Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), New Delhi was the Chief Guest. The Keynote address was given by Benjamin Pratt, Vice President, Corporate Public Affairs, The Mosaic Company & Dr. J. C. Katyal, Former Vice Chancellor, HAU, Hisar.
