- Jindal Foundation provides Text Books and Study materials for Jail inmates’ Children.
For the seventh year, Jindal Foundation provided textbook and study material sets to school going children of jail inmates across 55 jails of Odisha. In the concluding event held at Circle Jail, Choudwar Mr. Laxmidhar Mohanty, Additional District Magistrate, Cuttack handed over the text book sets to 65 jail inmates.
The program, implemented in partnership with John Augustus Prison and Social Welfare Services, was inaugurated on 7th August’2014 and after covering 54 jail the valedictory program was organized on 10th September.Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Mr. Laxmidhar Mohanty, ADM (Cuttack) expressed his contentment for the admirable effort taken up by Jindal Foundation & John Augustus Prison and Social Welfare Services in shaping the life of children of Jail Inmates through support of light of education and suggest that this noble program should go on to reach the life of many others.
As Chief Patron of the programme Mr. Prashant Kumar Hota, State Head (Corporate Communication) of JSPL said, “Education is one of the priority areas in our Chairman Sri Naveen Jindal ’s social mission. The Chairperson of Jindal Foundation Smt. Shallu Jindal has equal passion for inclusive education.
He quoted life of many Freedom Fighters like Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who had utilized their days of imprisonment in building Indian through writing patriotic poems and stories.
Pandit Nehru also used to send constructive letter to his only Daughter Smt. Indira Priyadarshini”, who had become “Prime minister” of this nation in later stage. Mr. Hota urged the inmates to write one letter per week to their children from the Jail guiding them for their ethical development.
He thanked the district administration, jail department for associating JSPL in this noble venture.Expressing happiness over getting textbooks for their children, the jail inmates thanked the JSPL and John Augustus Prison and Social Welfare Services. Jail Senior Superintendent Mr. Niranjan Das welcomed the guests at the programme.
Mr. PK Choudhury of John Augustus Prison and Social Welfare Services presented the introductory speech.Other distinguished guests present on the occasion were Mr. Trilochan Pradhan- Project Director (DRDA), Mr. Sibabrata Ghosh , BDO (Baramba), Mrs S.Sarkar (D.I.G.-Prison) Cuttack Range , along with Mr. Bibhu Panigrahi of JSPL and Mr. Pranab Choudhury of John Augustus Prison and Social Welfare Services.
“One of the major social missions of JSPL is Inclusive Education which propels us to reach the in reached. This is a soul satiating endeavour to reach the Children of Jail inmates with Study materials and text books,” said Mr. Dinesh Kumar Saraogi.Since 2008, JSPL is supporting this programme, in association with John Augustus Prison and Social Welfare Services, to provide text books to children of jail inmates. It has provided more than 10424 text book sets to the children of jail inmates.
