WPP India CSR Foundation launches its programme for upto 20,000 underprivileged children and youth in Mumbai and Delhi with Magic Bus and HOPE foundation

MUMBAI:  The WPP India Corporate Social Responsibility Foundation launched its implementation programme to bring about holistic development in the lives of upto 20,000 underprivileged children and youth in Mumbai and Delhi in collaboration with its implementation partners Magic Bus and HOPE foundation, at a school in Andheri, Mumbai on June 28, 2016.

This CSR initiative aims to empower children and youth by providing them access to quality education, life skills, improved health and hygiene and vocational training.

WPP India CSR Foundation is committed to a CSR vision of “Enabling children and youth from vulnerable and marginalized communities to achieve their full potential through holistic development with a focus on education, life skills and health”.

To achieve its vision, the WPP India CSR Foundation was launched last year, with a budget of a Rs 33 Crore (USD 5 Million), consolidating CSR activities of all WPP Companies in India under one umbrella and working in unison towards effecting social change and nation building.

Through the combined efforts of WPP India CSR Foundation and its implementation partners including Magic Bus, HOPE foundation and Genesis Foundation, the programme in its first phase will reach out to students from marginalized schools across Mumbai and NCR.

The event to launch this implementation programme, was inaugurated by Ranjan Kapur, Country Manager, WPP India CSR Foundation.

Kapur said, “We are focused on creating opportunities for children and youth from marginalized communities to achieve their full potential through holistic child development with a focus on education, life skills and health. We are working closely with our partners HOPE Foundation, Magic Bus and Genesis Foundation, who bring the required local knowledge and in-depth community connect to help achieve this goal.”

Commenting on the partnership, Matthew Spacie, Founder, Magic Bus. “We are grateful for the huge support from the WPP India CSR Foundation in transforming the lives of upto 20,000 underprivileged children and youth in Mumbai and Delhi. This collaborative effort will help build poverty-free futures from children and young people from some of India’s poorest neighbourhoods.”

Ian Correa, HOPE foundation’s, Director Development, further added, “We are excited to be at the cusp of realizing the power innovative partnerships can have on lives of children.”

The programme has been carefully designed to ensure a multi-stakeholder approach by not only working with children, their families and teachers but also interacting with the local government bodies as well as the larger community. The objective is to involve all stakeholders that are critical to reaching the desired impact of children achieving their full potential. The programme strives to improve the quality of education through creative teaching methods, making the classroom an enjoyable place of learning and targeted community engagement and mentorship.
