Introduction

Ravi Jaipuria, the founder and chairman of the RJ Corp, is a prominent figure in the Indian business community. He is known as the ‘Cola King’ of India. His company is the largest bottler for PepsiCo in the country. With a net worth of Rs. 73,000 Crores, Jaipuria is one of the wealthiest individuals.

Early Life and Education

Ravi Jaipuria was born into a business family in 1953. His father, Ramesh Chandra Jaipuria, was the founder of the Jaipuria Group, which had interests in textiles, real estate, and distilleries. Ravi Jaipuria completed his schooling in Kolkata and went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in commerce from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. He then obtained an MBA from the Institute of Management Technology in Ghaziabad.

Beginning of his Career

After completing his MBA, Ravi Jaipuria joined the family business and started working in the textile division of the Jaipuria Group. However, he soon realized that his true passion lay in the food and beverage industry. In 1985, he founded the RJ Corp, which initially started as a small franchise for the fast-food chain, Pizza Hut.

Expansion of Business

The RJ Corp soon expanded its operations and ventured into other food and beverage segments. In 1991, the company became the largest bottler for PepsiCo in India and later expanded its portfolio by acquiring other brands like Costa Coffee and Cream Bell ice cream. The company now has a presence in over 27 countries and has diversified into various industries like healthcare, education, and real estate.

Philanthropy

Apart from his business interests, Ravi Jaipuria is also known for his philanthropic activities. He is the founder of the Jaipuria Institute of Management, which is a leading business school in India. He has also established the Jaipuria School of Business, which focuses on entrepreneurship and innovation. Additionally, he has set up the Jaipuria Vidyalaya, a chain of schools in various parts of India that provides quality education to underprivileged children.
