JHARSUGUDA: On World AIDS Day, Vedanta Aluminum Ltd. has embarked on an ambitious target to reach out to more than a thousand strong workforces through a week long sensitization cum counseling program to be organized in its premises and periphery.
The inaugural meeting was held at Vedanta lead by Mr. Abhijit Pati , COO VAL, Mr Prabir Majumdar ,COO Power , Sr. Cleatus of JMJ Hospital , Mr. Duryodhan Ojha , District Labour Officer and other senior official of Vedanta. The program will sensitize more than a thousand employees of VAL and partner companies through a week long program organized jointly with JMJ Hospital,Sambalpur.
The welcome address was rendered by Dr. Rajeev Nayan, Head Human Resources and the objective was deliberated by Mr. D.K.Singh, Head HSE VAL. Addressing the audience comprising mainly of VAL employees and employees of partner companies of VAL, both Mr. Pati and Mr. Majumdar strongly came in favor of such initiatives by corporate houses to sensitize people with and around them. Sr.Cleatus thank Vedanta for the opportunity while DLO Mr. Ojha expressed his happiness on the initiative and stressed that this should lead to more and more industrial houses assuming leadership in addressing the issue of HIV-AIDS in their periphery and do their bit to control this global menace.
A sensitization campaign on road was also flagged off which will embark on a mission to sensitize mainly the vulnerable groups with high risk including mobile labour population and truck drivers and helper. The program will culminate on 6th December 2012.
