United Way of Baroda (UWB) and Fusion Study Foundation (FSF) donated 152 laptops, valued at more than 5.9 Million to Needy College students to have access to a device so they can participate in online learning.
The Covid-19 had closed educational institutions across the globe wherein the traditional method of teaching shifted to online teaching. Online Education was a big concern for underprivileged college students who did not have the access to mobile and laptops.
To support bright indigent students in this pandemic, United Way of Baroda and Fusion Study Foundation, Netherlands donated 152 Dell Vostro i3 8GB RAM laptops with complete accessories to 152 underprivileged college students of Gujarat state phasewise and lessen the burden on their parents in this pandemic situation.
A 2nd phase of laptop distribution event was organized on 23rd February 2021 to provide laptops directly to selected students of Baroda and nearby area in Gujarat State. The event was graced by Vice Chairman Mr. Shivinder Singh Chawla, RDC Chair Mr. Hemant Shah, Deputy Director Dr. Binita Verdia, Special Invitees Mr. Dhanu Patel, Mrs. Harleen Chawla, Mrs. Yasmin Patel.
The majority of the supported students’ parents are daily wage labourers, vegetable vendors, electricians, diamond workers, farmers, etc whose income is not stable or no income for many months in this pandemic situation. The supported students are studying in premier institute like Indian Institute of Technology, Nirma University, Dhirubhai Ambani Institute, M. S. University, etc. Along with Free laptops these students are supported for college fees with other study expenses under Returnable grant scholarship by both these organizations under United Fusion Study Program.
Nigam Pithadiya student of BE Computer Science from Nirma University quoted that “Thanking for all your support during this tough times. I would like to offer my gratitude for giving me high configured laptop which is very essential these days for my online studies”.
Archit quoted “I am very grateful to UWB & FSF for helping me to complete my studies without any financial problem. Thanks for accepting my request for laptop as I am an IT student, and you accepted my request and help me to get laptop. I am very much thankful to you.”
Jeel shared “I have received the laptop today in good condition. Thank you for your service. It would not possible for me to get this high price laptop without your support. Thank you so much United Way of Baroda for supporting.”
